Paddle Shifters OR..........

What I feel is that instead of paddle shifters they put in the option to have

the shifter slide over into a shifting position/mode similar to most Tiptronic

cars. I personally believe that this gives more of a "IM driving stick" fell to it.

I follow this statment to death..

I pick option C because I will be rowing gears in my manual. I can't select that as an option so I left it blank. If I had to choose, I think I'd go paddleshifters.

If I absolutely had to pick one over the other, I'd pick the paddle shifters. Neither one really gives me a good feel for shifting...if I manually shift gears, I want to put the car right into the gear I need. You can't do that with these manumatic transmissions...you have to tap tap tap and look at your display to figure out which gear you're in. With a traditional manual, when you grab the stick, you know what gear it's in just by feel, and you know which gear you're putting it into by where you move the stick.

But if I absolutely had to pick one or the other, I'd pick the one that doesn't move my hands too far from the wheel. But I'd rather it either be a full automatic, or a full manual.

Does anyone make a manumatic with an actual manual shift gate instead of just a two-position +/-? Now that I'd buy.

I'll probably get the 6sp manual, but if I did get the auto, it'd have to have paddle shifters.

I like the idea of paddles better than the floor tap-shifter....

I'd rather have something totally different, than a stick-shift impersonator.
Plus, I like the idea of having them right there on the wheel, so if I were in a hard turn, and needed to shift (for whatever reason) My hands wouldn't have to leave the wheel...

But they are doing both, now...I forget which GM vehicle it's in...but there's both the paddles, AND the floor shifter thing.

If the 5thgen DOES NOT have paddle shifters that would be pretty lame.

I second this motion!!!

I tried paddles and Tiptonic shifters and I don't care for either...now if I had HUD might be a little easyier to play around without look at gauge on the dash...But If I have the option I'll skip option 1 & 2 as i perfer the old fashion stick! But having to choose between the two...Ill take option #2

you dont have to look at your display if you pay attention to what you are doing. i drive manumatic in my auto car all the time, i can tell just by feeling the angle of the shifter what gear im in. and with the up down manumatics, if you know what gear you are in when you put it into that mode, then you should be able to tell which gear you are tapping it into.

driver mod ftw.

Well, I have always been a manual man, but I got behind the wheel of a Corvette and the paddleshifters were pretty sweet. I would never think of getting the little wannabe-stick option. For me it will either be straight stick or paddleshifters, I'm not quite sure yet. My beef was when they put paddleshifters on cars like stock lancers and other slow cars. But this car, like the Corvette, will have plenty horsepower to constitute the paddleshifters. But it will take something pretty impressive to get my mind off stick......and no not that stick

2007 Pontiac Grand Prix GXP (but those are thumb tap shifters on the wheel, instead of behind) I believe... I'm not sure tho.

I'd take the tiptronic over standard paddles, just because its a cool idea to me. Paddles are starting to get kindof old in my mind. But then again, paddles are simple, and pretty cool too, can i go with Dragoneye's idea??
