Need help finding out so that I can continue to mod my Z
Hello everyone, I'm currently seeking the links to help me carry out these tasks for my ZL1. Looking to purchase a good ABL red or blue footwell lighting. I cant decide between the ice blue and red. The ice blue would go along with the door lights or red to go along with the stitches in the seats. I also want to get rid of the grey in the car in the gauges and dash. How would I take it apart so that I could paint the parts? I would plastidip the parts black so that nothing but blue and red lighting from the gauges lighting up with the footwell lights and door sills. Last but not least could someone point me in the right direction for hardwiring my V1 and possible using the suction cups provided to place them on the windshield. Thank You and good day.

Since noone has responded to this post, I figured I would provide some help. I have red footwell lighting in my ZL1 and I am happy with it, but the blue would look good too. It's really just your preference.
To get rid of the gray, here are a few DIY links that show you how to remove the steering wheel bezel and the speedo bezel. If you want to remove the silver vent piece in your dash, I have also included a link. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=198695 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=238631 http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=124855 For the hard wiring of your radar detector there are a couple of ways to do it. Personally, I just got a length of phone cable and ran the wire to my drivers side fuse panel and tapped into the fuse for the console outlet since it is a switched source. Here is a pic of the fuse panel. The thin green wire is the power for the radar detector, and I grounded it to the screw right next to the fuse panel. To mount your detector, I would skip the suction cups and go with something more permanent. I use the mount shown in this link: http://www.southerncarparts.com/2010...nt-p-2653.html The reason I like this mount is because it is sturdy and somewhat hidden from view, especially if you have a strip tinted on the windshield. I believe it will also work for the Valentine detector, but you could probably PM the vendor to find out for sure. I like this much better than the Blendmount that hangs below the mirror (too visible for me) and the suction cups. I hope this helps! |
