Well when you get divorced and she takes that ring, your car and maybe your house you will think different!

sounds like you have experience with relationships not working out.

I wouldn't say he'd think different. I think that he'd think..."crap"

Of course, I hate arguments, so I don't understand why your trying to fight him on this, SSMUFF, why not just be happy for him - right now, here, not after he "get's divorced" - besides, it's not like the situation effects you at all.

AND - Why would you root for someone to get divorced?!?!? It's a 50/50 rate right now, why wait on one more?
Seriously, though...of all the people replying to this thread...there has only been one with a negative overall response. Who's that?

"I will leave it at that"....

did you just watch that on the news? I was watching a thing on "swingers" and it showed stats on divorces and cheating.

No, I've heard it for years, it's really depressing...and as for as I'm concerned, I'm don't plan to quit as quick as the divorced 50%. I mean, come on people - work at it - unless it's so bad you want to drive your Camaro off a bridge! In that case, leave the car on the bridge, jump off yourself.

Seriously, 50/50? that's scary.

yeah, the news show I was watching said the divorce rate was 50/50 and that 60% of people cheat on their spouses. i mean COME THE F*@# ON! does the institution of marriage mean anything anymore? people these days go thru marriages like cars. Im just glad that my girl is Catholic (dont knock it, im agnostic...dont knock it) and has told me repeatedly that she wouldnt divorce me no matter what.

then again, maybe that means she'd kill me in my sleep...

Married 5 years, no kids (not planning on it either, yes both of us), and I still get my toys... my pc was my major toy up until I fell in love with my cammy. I've probably spent 5k on my pc (4gig ram, 22inch widescreen lcd, 2 TB hd raid, dual core 64bit amd proc, dual SLI video cards). She knows I'm going to spend 30k +/- 2k on it and that it will be my baby. She got her dream car (05 tacoma) and now its my turn. Marriage is all in how you deal with each other.. to many people just get married because its what "everyone does".

Met my wife at 17, engaged for 3 years, married at 21.

I tell people that when they think they are ready for marriage, go live together for 2 years, or get a dog, or something like that where you have to share responsibility and see how things work and then decide.

What's an institution of marriage? I thought we all do it for money...oh, wait. Crap - that plan fell through. What about because we all "fall in love at first sight" everytime we see someone...oh, crap. That doesn't work. But who gets to know the person first? Come on, that's for sqaures

(I hope you recognised the sarcasm...I layed it on really thick )

But, looking closer...

I would never spend over 500 on a ring that could easily be lost.
