I think they got the numbers screwed up.
Its 412 at the motor... Looks to me like it should be 350-360ish.

Wait till more are dyno'd. All dyno's read differently. I do hope the car makes good power and is fast for a reasonable price. About time Ford made a mustang that accomplished this.

This is the same dyno that overshot the 2010 GT500 by about 15-25rwhp. I would expect the car to make 355-365rwhp stock

Look, engine ratings are not over rated or underrated, there is an industrial standard for certifying an engines power at the flywheel. This is the only way to accurately look at horsepower. Once a car is on a wheel dyno there are way too many variables to call any number accurate. The engine certification is done in a lab with control over everything to elimate the variables. This is mandated so that no manufacturer can underrate or overrate their engines. This means there are only two possiblities if the car is stock, 1) the new Mustang only has a 5% loss through the drivetrain or 2) the dyno is not 100% accurrate. To me its obvious what we're looing at.
Regardless of all that, the Mustang is going to be one bad little pony car, once again.

Hello!
|
I'd assume Ford will take advantage of the Camaro being out and pretty much a carry over for the 2011 MY and do something to step up like under-rate the 5.0.
Dodge is also stepping up and adding the 6.4 to the Challenger with a supposed 450 - 475 hp (at the engine) rating. Chevy will then pick it up for the 2012 MY and top Ford. Won't surprise me if the 5.0 is under-rated some... |

I would love for it to be true, but I don't trust anything I read on Edmunds

Gear will change it a little, but most dyno runs should be done in the 1:1 gear generally 4th.

Why don't you guys realize that you can't under rate HP numbers from the factory any more. Yes both the LS1 Camaro and Terminator were both under rated, but in 2008 a new system for rating horse power was implemented. It's impossible for ford to under rate this engine. The dyno numbers are crap. Just wait a couple months.

Looks like the Mustang is waving the SS bye bye, and is going after M3 and C63.
Although, the dyno that Motortrend keeps using does produce some high numbers. |

I have no idea on the Viper...but the ZR1 is not dynoing that high...at least not stock. The LS9 is SAE-certified, it cannot be underrated.

Well, it was a Motor Trend or Car and Driver Dyno so it may have been off (more than likely knowing them), but the Viper and ZR1 were within a fe HP of each other, so if both aren't the Viper apparently is because ven if the numbers were off, both cars were done on the same day at the same dyno. I will try to find that article when i get home this even, I am sure it is one of the "throne room literature dispensors" hahaha
