after firsr oil change, do u get it changed every 3, 5, 8, 10,000 miles?
i thought it was every 3000 miles... some dealer and others were tellin me 8-10,000 miles.. or should i not do it by mileage, instead just follow my oil percentage?

It is synthetic oil, therefore I will change it every 6 thousand miles. To ME, any more often than that is just a waste.
You will get a million different opinions, though.

Depends on your driving as well, highway or all local makes a difference.
Synthetic 6,500-7500 should be fine. Reg. oil more like 4,000-4500 should be fine. Many tests show today's oil changes at 3,000 mile intervals is just wasting money! As mentioned, everyone will have an opinion- so do what you feel good about. Above is what I do based on all my cars in time and from reading. Never has an engine related problem in 29 cars. best J |

I changed mine at 500 miles. I will put only around 5000 miles per year. I will change mine twice per year erroring on the cautious side.

Owners manual in My HHR says to change oil when the oil life montor indicates it is time, or once a year whichever is shorter.. Your dealer or garage will probably tell you every 3,000 miles.. but they are there to make money.. they Want you to overchange your oil...

If you make sure to rinse the engine out with water after your first oil change, you'll be able to go 20k on synthetic. The trick is to fill your oil pan with h2o, then start your car. The circulation will remove all of your break-in shavings.

I remember reading the thread about the Mustang owner that did this. Please don't let let one of our Camaro's have the same fate...
