What Ford has done with the Mustang is very impressive - without the Boss 302, we might not have gotten the 1LE and Z28, and the GT350 will yet again force GM to bring its A-game to the segment. This is the way that competition works, and it's great for everyone involved - especially the consumer!
As to the question of what we might see for the next-gen Z28, we shouldn't immediately rule-out the possibility that a new high-output N/A GenV is in the works. GM has never been shy about creating a lot of different flavors from its core engine architectures, and I see no reason why we should think that things will be any different with the latest pushrod V8. It all comes down to the ability to make a business case, and things would certainly be helped if, say, there was a plan to do a lightweight N/A track-focused Vette that could offer an opportunity to share development costs for this hypothetical engine. |

Wait. Seriously? The 5.2L FPC being the largest displacement FPC in production isn't ground breaking? Ford also confirmed it will be over 100hp/L. Carbon fiber wheels the first time it has been put into a production car that doesn't require you to sell your organs on the black market just to afford it. That isn't "ground breaking" ???
I love the Camaro just as much as the next guy, buy I'm going to give Ford credit, where credit is due. On PAPER the GT350 sounds like it is going to be a monster. Lighter than a Z/28, superior engine to the Z/28, just as wide tires as the Z/28 (granted they aren't as sticky) and I'm willing to bet it will have better Aero than the Z/28. Honestly I will be shocked if it cannot keep pace with a Z/28, if not set better lap times.

Wow, I was just looking through some pictures from the NY Auto Show, what a high percent of ugly cars. The new Kia Optima is really awful after the great look of the outgoing model. I'd list them, however it'd take too long.
Oh and sorry not a fan of the new Malibu.

No doubt it is a superior car, just not much presence. It looks smallish. It reminds me of the 90's cars very round edges. I agree we'll see how it looks in person.

Me I like the front end. I think it's the best attempt at the Chevy familial split grill. But that's why God invented the internet. So we could share our opinions with others.

Gotta love an Iowa Class broadside. Nine 16" naval guns at once. Pretty awesome sight.
Looks like a couple of the 5" guns are being fired too.

fwiw dept: I was told by a retired Navy sailor that she would move 18" on a broadside like that. I was thinking it was more, but I'm sure it felt like a heckuva lot more

I've heard the same before but it's been shown to be a myth. If you use conservation of momentum, with zero friction, the ship would be moved at 6 inches per second by the guns firing. Add in the fact the ship is in water and it would move very little, if at all.

Well just look at the wake from the blast. It sure looks like more than 18" just at the bow. Looks like 10 feet or more.
