Your Own Technology Blend?

If you had the reigns at GM, what group of technologies would you put together to create your ideal transportation? You can really think out of the box here, there is a LOT of tech to choose from... but try and keep in to existing or soon-to-be-released tech...

My Ride: AWD Camaro ZR1 Rally Sport

-LSX Block with LS7 Internals and stroker kit (500 c.i.), featuring integral supercharger, intercooler, cylinder deactivation, direct injection
-AWD System from the Sierra Denali
-Full Independent long travel suspension from the Holden Commodore Ute.
-Hydroformed Aluminum Frame from the Z06
-Carbon-Ceramic brakes from the ZR1
-Carbon Body panels from the ZR1
-6 Speed Auto from ZR1 with padel shifters
-Magnorheological Fluid Dampers from Cadillac

How about You?

Unfortunately, LSexcellent...this is gonna seem very familiar

RWD Camaro Z28 427 RS

Engine:
LSX block
Generation-V heads w/ DIG, and VVT.
Aggressively tuned AFM, (more 4 cyllinder time).
LS3 intake manifold.
completely forged internals. Rated to 1300 hp.
Dry sump oiling system
12.4:1 CR
alcohol injection w/ shutoff

(when/if I felt like it, I can strap on a light-boost Procharger with this setup)

General Body
standard steel frame
Carbon Fiber bodypanels
functioning RAM-air scoop (the one that's already there)
Swivel headlamps out of the Caddy CTS.
LED lights all around
auto-dimming rear-view, and side-view mirrors

Ride and Handling
full suite of GM handling and traction equipment.
dual-zone, auto climate control
Full-leather interior
soft ambiant lighting (as opposed to a single lamp stuck in the cieling)
Magnetic ride selection out of the Corvette
6L80 w/ paddle shifters out of the 'Vette
Zeta RWD IRS system

hoping to see a great whopping 550 to 600-horse behemoth, with all the refinements of a Cadillac.

NOW:
I realize that none of that is ever gonna happen, so I'll be content with a 400+ hp beast with all the refinements of a Chevy

Wow, I'm nowhere near as up-to-date on GM's technology as you guys are :(

However, for what I want from the new Camaro...

RWD
Leather
400 Horses
Manual Transmission
Short-throw shifter
Front/rear strut braces
...and some kind of lowering kit.

Really, that's it for me. I don't want a nav system, fancy transmission, 2000 watt stereo, or anything. I might have to put the strut braces on myself, but I think it's realistic <3

My dream GM mash-up

Camaro as the base car
L76 from the G8 (still enough to get you into the low 5s 0-60, more gas and insurance friendly) with dry sump oiling system and modified for direct injection (dream Gev V perhaps? AFM and DI and minimum high 300s for horsepower and torque are basically what I'm getting at here)
6 speed manual tranny from the CTS (I heard some speculation that the Camaro will get that, but I haven't heard it confirmed)
Corvette's Magnetic Ride selection
G8 or CTS's premium sound system
Concept's leather sport seats with Malibu quality leather
Corvette's interchangeable roof panel system
Auto AC (single zone will do fine, but why not dual zone?)
ZR-1 Brakes
Carbon fiber body panels
Head Up Display
push button start
side exhaust pipes (GM doesn't have obvious plans for this, but I'm sure the aftermarket will offer something.)

Wow.. lets see..

Drive train and power management from the Tesla Roadster
Camaro body and interior
Improved Battery life (Like to see a 10 year warranty on drivetrain batts.)
Improved Battery charge distance (would love to see a 500 mile range but even 300 miles only 60 more than current tesla would be great)
Improved Battery Charge time (less than 30 mins for full charge, yea Im dreaming)
Hud w/ accelerometer
Heating/AC
Power windows/seats/door locks/keyless entry
MP3/CD/DVD with nav built in dash
HID head and fog lights
Cloth Bucket seats
18 or 19" Performance wheels
Under $30,000.00

Edit - Replace the powertrain with any GM 8 cylinder and thats what I want from the camaro anyway...

You know the Tesla only has, like, 260 hp, right?

Just checking...

Hmm. Dream your own monster Camaro. I'm not the best on the exact technical details of these things but here goes . . .

-Start with a 572 big block (no replacement for displacement!)
-Ram-air hood scoop
-Upgrade the suspension and brakes, use Z51 package from Corvette id possible
-Carbon fibre front fenders, hood, and facia to improve weight distribution.
-Heads up display linked to a forward looking infrared camera system.
-If possible, have the camera programed to recognise and highlight obsticles in the road such as deer, pedestrians, mustangs, ricers, and so on.
-Replace any fancy heated power seats with regular leather ones

Its 248hp.. but yea I know.. it also has over 200ft-lbs of torque from 0 rpm to over 6k rpm and only steadily drops until redline..

0-60 in 4 seconds.. The camaro is going to be a daily driver for me.. if I could get a performance car and electric in one I would.. since I can't its the v8 the entire way.

Everything here as well but...

How about having the technologically advanced Atezza AWD system coming up from the new GT-R?

Without repeating all the performance related technical details listed above...I want as much horsepower as I can get with the least amount of weight with good build quality (no rattletraps). That and 4 wheels and seats for me and my kids and I'm all good.

No hybrid/alternative energy please. I prefer internal combustion and the associated music made by 8 well timed cylinders.

You should look into A123 Batteries (the supplier of the GM Volt's batteries when they enter production in 2010). They are advocating that they can reach some of these goals right now...

My other big hope is that this technology pans out:

http://www.greencarcongress.com/2006...rbon_nano.html

basically, if you 'grow' carbon hairs off of the plates of capacitors, you can store as much energy as a battery, but without the nasty chemicals, slow charge times, and limited life. If they can produce these things, they will decimate batteries!

We'll also need the chassis from a Caparo T1 (super light weight) to get you to the range you want.

Interesting idea, but the Atezza system can't handle the torque of a supercharged 7.0L pushrod engine (the GTR 'only' puts out around 440lb.ft, whereas my engine is pushing 700ft lbs!)
