Im looking to do a swap from my 350 tbi out of my 91 2500 to a ls motor. I wonder how much it would run for me to have it professionally done.

depends on what all you want done.

if the engine/trans is new/clean enough and you have all the parts needed, then it wont/shouldnt cost much.

Ive got a 6.0L block in my 06 pickup and have been thinking about turbo'ing it with a decent used one. seeing as how my cr is 9.4:1

That's really awesome. I thought that even the stock 5.3 was pretty peppy in my old '99 Reg Cab.

That is a way cool build. The truck that is. The car is just a little too rat rod hillbilly for my tastes but cool in its own way non the less. Love the whole unassuming sleeper aspect to this truck. Its even the less attractive squared front end vintage. I think the 99-02 shortbed is one of the best designs Chevy ever produced.

I have a 98 shortbed with a 5.0 5MT. All stock down to the wheels but for the JBA shorty's, spectre CAI, and Magnaflow exhaust. Anybody know how stout the 5MT is? I understand the 5.0's and 5.7's are basically the same block no?

Doesn't this thing have sleeper written all over it?

i'm a little biased & prefer the GMT800, but having had 2 of the 90s style trucks, i also really like the GMT400 - it's a rock-solid platform. as for your truck, a 350 is an easy swap... but an LS conversion ain't that hard at all & gives you more room to play.

as for your transmission, it's literally the same one that's in my truck & is ridiculously underrated. all those jealous 4L60E nerds crying about 'it's only rated for 300lb-ft' usually have no real experience with it. i called Joe Gibbs Racing & talked to one of the guys who designed the supercharger package for the Silverados & he said they left the trans bone-stock & never had an issue out of it. then i've talked to a guy (and seen his build videos) who swapped his 4.3 out for a 454, beat it like a red-headed step child, and then swapped the 454 for an 8.1 and beat on it some more. your trans will hold up. heck... last time i raced the truck, i was running the 1/8th in 4wd with 31.5" tires - gotta love that 1st gear! it also held up just fine pulling a 6k pound trailer from FL to ATL & back using a lot of downshifting to brake.
