What is this?

Noticed this while cleaning under the hood? I noticed it is the same size and shape as the retainer pins for the engine cover.

That is a negative post so that you can jump the car -- while the battery may be in the back of your Camaro -- you still have a positive terminal under the hood - and that's the 'ground pin'.......

Cool - huh?

Grounding point for jumper cables. Hope you never have to use it.

I think it's a ground post... The location where you would connect the negative cable of a set of jumper cables.

you don't have to ground your cables to the neg post of the battery... you can use a bolt on the engine or something like that as well. The battery is grounded to the frame, thus making any non painted bolt a good ground.

You could also basically hook your negative jumper cable to anything that attaches to the frame (anything not painted that is). Chevy just made it easier
