What is this?
Noticed this while cleaning under the hood? I noticed it is the same size and shape as the retainer pins for the engine cover.

That is a negative post so that you can jump the car -- while the battery may be in the back of your Camaro -- you still have a positive terminal under the hood - and that's the 'ground pin'.......
Cool - huh?

I think it's a ground post... The location where you would connect the negative cable of a set of jumper cables.

well i learned something new as well i could not find the negative hook up in the engine bay when i needed to jump my buddies car lol this is way easier now since i know where its at instead of taking everything out in the trunk

you don't have to ground your cables to the neg post of the battery... you can use a bolt on the engine or something like that as well. The battery is grounded to the frame, thus making any non painted bolt a good ground.

You could also basically hook your negative jumper cable to anything that attaches to the frame (anything not painted that is). Chevy just made it easier

Right under the red plastic cover of the cable- There is a + mark on it.
