Pandora Internet Radio
Hello,
I have the Motorola Droid and was wondering if anyone can play Pandora Radio through the blue tooth in your Camaro or if it can be done. Has anyone done this and if so how?

Yes, you should be able to do it.
You need to configure (pair) the GMMusicConnect connection to your phone, download the latest version of Pandora, launch Pandora and go into its settings and turn on the bluetooth for automotive option. Once you've done this, any time that you want to use it just launch pandora go to the aux inputs on the head unit and connect to your bluetooth device and it should work. The only down side is that it doesn't show the song or artist, just the phone id. At least thats how it is on my Droid Bionic. |

GMMusicConnect is the default name of the media bluetooth connection between the car and the phone. It is a separate connection from the hands free calling bluetooth connection.
If you go to the Aux menu on the radio in the car, hit the menu button, there should be a bluetooth setup option in the list, that's the one that you want to set up the music connection. use that and your normal process for pairing your phone with a device and you should be fine. It did take me a couple of times with my Bionic to get it to pair, but I think that was because of how I had some of my security settings. Hope that this helps. If not, try the owners manual. It does explain how to set up the music connection. You may need to cross reference with your phone manual or the web if you're not sure how to pair your phone to a device to confirm the exact process for the Droid that you have. |

I think that this is more an issue with the bluetooth. I can get pandora to sound pretty good on my phone, but once I use the bluetooth to transfer it to the car, the quality goes down hill fast. I've noticed similar quality issues using bluetooth with media files on my phone. They sound fine if I plug the phone in via USB and let the head unit index them. I do wish that pandora sounded better through bluetooth, and that it would show me the song and artist. I guess if it bothers me enough, I'll go aftermarket and replace the head unit.

I will have to look at that. I generally just use my zune. But when that is not updated, I use my phone...

I believe that bluetooth compresses the feed so you get crappy quality. |

Why not just use the usb connection in the center console or the head phone jack? I went to radio shack and bought a short cable that I keep plugged in and just connect my phone before any road trip. All I do is select aux input.
I hate cell phones and wouldn't have one if my work didn't require it. So help me out if I'm missing something. |

Pandora won't play over the usb connection (at least not on my phone) since it treats the phone like a flash drive. Plugging into the car's aux port and the phone's headphone jack should work fine, and you can use usb to charge. I'm not sure if this does anything to the hands free calling or not since the phone often treats bluetooth as a headphone connection.

That is exactly what I do. Headphone for sound and usb for charge. It doesn't affect hands free calling in my case. But I can't even tell you what model phone I have. My wife got it for me.

It should be inside the center console on the rear panel, under the USB port if you have one. I don't think all versions have the USB port, just the ones that have the PDIM module, but since you have the bluetooth connection, I think you have that. It's been a while since I looked at those differences between the models, so I may be wrong about who has it and who doesn't.

I think it varies per phone, bluetooth on my Galaxy Nexus sounds great. However, my previous Droid X phone didn't sound to great.

I've been trying to connect my Thunderbolt for months, no luck until tonight. Here's the key...my phone had to be connected via USB with Bluetooth on. I put the car in config and put the phone in "search able" mode and GM Music Connect finally showed on my phone. For some reason, the phone had to be connected to the car by USB to connect Bluetooth music. Works like a champ now. Clearly I'm a little slow....

Either bluetooth or aux port should work. Bluetooth may sound worse due to signal compression, but I don't know if you can skip songs from the head unit with the aux port. Haven't. Tried it yet.

Only way I could get mine to work today was by using the phones headphone jax to the cars aux jack . Sounds great but no way the skip songs unless you use the phone .

Mine works with the USB. The only setup I did was the Bluetooth for phone calls. I plugin my phone every time I drive to keep it charged then open up pandora. It automatically recognizes the USB and shows up on the HUD. Maybe it's one of those upgrades they did for the later models??? I have a 2011 2SS.

That depends on the phone. With an Iphone, Pandora plays over the USB cable. |

I run pandora on my deck with 2 different (but relatively high end) phones. Sound quality is actually very good. Make sure you change it to high quality in the pandora options.
If your still low quality, it may be your phones bluetooth stack. Not all of them are equal. You are at the mercy of the hardware that you use. |
