Aaron7, where in AZ is this? I'm in Prescott, and I've seen some camo-ed mules out here before (though not Camaros). Is this beast running around anywhere near here?

It sounds much louder than everyone in FL led us to believe.

But I didn't hear any "whining" sound.

Agreed. I heard more engine noise than I'd thought (since it is essentially idling) but no whine.

I didn't think it was particularly loud. and I didn't hear a whine either. I don't think there's a s/c version they're testing yet. Or the whistling gould have been a turbo/TT set up.

LOL they thought someone who owns a dealer was driving their new Camaro "on this road". They were in a mustang too, lol on the same road?. no offense though. I bet the sound of the rustang was the engine we are hearing possibly.

All my friends have mustangs (which i rape with my ls-1) and that sound you were hearing was the mustang. I can also tell that the video was taken by a cell phone which sucks ass with out side noise. So you probably didn't hear the camaro at all.

I'm pretty sure that was the maro, if you look at the video the revving is in sync with the camaro easing it's way around the corner, plus we don't hear it anymore when it's gone. in any case i hope it is the camaro because it sounded nice and throaty!

Maybe the z28 isnt supercharged..... but the SS package will be? But without the supercharge it will be similar to the pontiac G8 gxp.... found here http://www.autoblog.com/2008/03/15/n...-402-hp-and-a/

I see bigger wheels!!! Those hockey stripes don't look that bad. still not getting them. I'm totally happy with the body. Looks very good. Still needs vents. I see the front vent is open on this one.

I saw the Camaros in Florida, they were not loud. Who said they were loud? According to the testers the said something to the efect of being the base V8 or V6 models.

my computer hates me!!!! it wont load the video!!! but from the photos, that thing looks like a beast!!!

my eyes might just be messing with me, but from the last still shot, just above that black stripe that they put between the taillamps (dumb looking stripe), it almost looks like the shadow from a small concept-like rear blade (spoiler). those of you the can actually see the video, could you tell me if im crazy or not? thanks

Engine performance

The heart of the G8 GXP is the 6.2L LS3 small-block V-8, currently rated at 402 horsepower (300 kW)* and 402 lb.-ft. of torque (546 Nm)* pending final SAE certification. This engine is the newest member of GM's small-block V-8 family. It features a revised, larger-bore cylinder block, high-flow, L92-style cylinder heads; larger-diameter pistons; unique camshaft and camshaft timing; revised valvetrain with offset intake rocker arms; high-flow intake manifold; and high-flow fuel injectors.

Yes, I was in a 08 Mustang, but it's a V6. That sound you hear is all Camaro!

The camera is actually a Sony DSC-T100. This was a 20mb mpg file, obviously quality was reduced so you wouldn't have to sit there for a half hour to watch it! As stated above thougj, that exhaust is all Camaro. There was nothing around us that had loud exhaust.

EDIT: Just watched the video... the original had a little more exhaust sound... you could hear it idle by the car a little better. Maybe we could get a sound clip?
