Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow mufflers on a V6
I got the Flowmasters installed and took a few videos.
Here is the set up I have. It is basically the Flowmaster axle back system they are just now putting out. Summit Part Number FLO-817483 I just got the muffler part number and ordered those and the tips that were closes to the ones with the kit. I removed the stock mufflers only, from the rear end back. I had Flowmaster 40 Series Delta Flow mufflers installed with Flowmaster tips. I had the end of the tips that has the clamp on it cut off and the tips are welded on. Yes it has some drone @ 2,000 rpm. I expected it and it doesn't bother me one bit. I have had a few Camaros and trucks with Flowmasters and they all had drone in one form or fashion. It has never bothered me. There have been many times I would cruise down the highway with the radio turned down just so I could listen to the exhaust purrrr. Muffler, Delta Flow 40 Series, 2 1/2 in. Inlet/2 1/2 in. Outlet, Stainless Steel, Dark Gray Summit part number FLO-842543 $99.88 each Exhaust Tip, Stainless, Polished, Straight/Rolled Edge, 2.5 in. Inlet, 4 in. Outlet, 7.5 in. Long Summit part number FLO-15365 $47.95 each Here is a video of a cold start and one of revving the engine. I'll get a normal take off and a hard take off video when I can. Just added these hard take off videos and few "bad" in cabin videos as well. I don't claim to be a camera operator. and a few sorry in cabin videos, I'll try better next time. Sounds pretty good. So your total was around 350 for the set up?
If so, thats a damn good price! |

I did almost the exact same set up, $282 out the door at a local muffler shop.
Sounds are very close. |

It was right around $308.00 shipped from Summit, but I did pay an extra 50 bucks to have it shipped over night. I paid the shop about $125.00 to install, everything welded. So I spent right at $500.00 for everything and I am happy with it.
Here is a video of a normal/slow take off up the street. Sorry for the quality of the video. It was my wife's very first time to shoot video with my camera. I'm trying to think of a good place to shoot a video of a hard take off where I won't get in trouble and my son won't be standing on the side of a road. |

He used the Flowmaster Super 44s, part number 942448 which are a little louder. Both sound about the same but one is louder then the other.
Here is the link to his setup. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52822 |

Nice!! Price is awsome. If only there wasn't that tin-can like sound that happens when you gave it the quick/high revs in the second video....it would be nearly perfect for me. I wonder if that would smooth out over time?
Looking forward to more videos!

I just added this video and a few other "hard take off" videos along with a few sorry in cabin videos to my original post on page #1. I am going to take more of the "in cabin" videos later on so I can redeem myself.

KGA thanks for the message letting me know that you got some take off videos. It sounds great! So is the only different between this and what flowmaster sells the welded tips?

The axle back that flowmaster is selling for the v6 uses the 40 Series Classic mufflers part# 842543C-192 and part# 842543C-193 according to their pdf file that was posted somewhere around this section.
I used the 40 series delta flow mufflers part# 842543 which has the same sound as far as I can tell and uses the same part# except for the last digits C-192 and C-193 which I would think stands for "classic". The tips I used are the same size as the ones that come with the axle back. I just had the guys at the shop cut the clamping part off and had them welded on. Hope this helps and is not to confusing. |

Gotcha and I asked because I can actually tell the difference in sound between yours and the flowmaster installed video one. Your's sounded deeper at lower RPM's. I like that.
