Why I love my 1LT RS....

Being a Camaro/Firebird/Corvette loving kid since I was 6, those cars were what I dreamed of.

My father was the manager for Chevy dealers in the Orange & LA County area since 1987, so Chevy/GM was in my blood for years. I even sold cars with him at a Pontiac-GMC dealer (in which I abused all the Trans Ams when I could).

Now, at 26, I had a choice as to what I wanted to drive following my new career, and of course I had been eyeing the Camaro. Other choices came to mind (Cadillac CTS, Madza RX-8, Infiniti G37) but I wanted the Camaro.

News of the 300HP V6 from the CTS powertrain was incredible for me. I've always loved the roar of the V8, but my experience with my 2004 Sierra cost me losts of money just to have power that I rarely, if ever, used.

So I called my dad's old dealer in Orange County and they had a boatload of Camaros ready. LS's, LTs, and SSs aplenty. I determined the best bang for my buck was a 1LT V6 with the RS package and Con/Con. This dealers had 3 of those exact models available. I had a choice, Cyber Grey, Black, or white.

Of course I got the grey, IMO it's the best color.

But after 4 months of having this car, I couldn't be happier. The HP and torque give it a great boost and the looks are incredible. The RS package gives me 20s, a spoiler, and the Halo LEDS. As my daily driver with an 11-mile commute and casual driving to local places (clubs, bars, etc.) what did I need the V8 for? I saved a boatload of money, I have good power, and all the options I need.

Everytime I step into my car I'm happy as a clam, and my payment is actually lower than my brother's Maxima. And when I drive my car, people turn their heads.

Best bang for your buck in America in my opinion. When you Camaro to people who ask you what car you have, they automatically know what you've got.

I know there are threads out there that hate it when people ask if its the V8. I personally don't mind the question, and I am proud to be a V6 owner. As much as the 2LT package gives you, its really now worth close to $4K added on. The 1LT RS reigns supreme as the best sports car value in America.

I don't drive mine to the club. Too much attention and not where I need it if you know what I mean.

I cant agree more although I looked for a Synergy Green V6, believe it or not they seem to be selling fast. There was one at a local dealer and it sold. So I had to drive to the other side of the state to get one.
Like you I love the drive of my car. That is what matters the most. Congrats and enjoy the Perm-a-grin..

Absolutely delighted that you are happy with your new Camaro - on behalf of Team Camaro - thank you for choosing Camaro - we sincerely hope it will be the best car you've ever owned!

(....how's that 'Perma-Grin' workin' for ya????)

The V6 Camaro is a great value when you realize all that you get - -and 312 hp to boot!

The RS package finishes it off -

I love my 1LT too but lately ive really wished sometimes i had a V8. The extra power is awesome but it's the fact that the power of the V8 is so much lower compared to the V6. Still though with 2 jobs and one of them is a 30+ mile commute one way im glad i have a V6 getting about 25mpg.

I agree completely, I love my 1LT/RS and would order the exact same car if I had it to do over again.

I've had a 1LT/RS for 16 months and about 5500 miles now. It is everything I wanted and more: looks, power, and gas mileage. I'm in my late 50s and lived through much of the muscle car era. I've owned Corvettes, Chevelles, Nova SSs and older Camaros including a Z-28. I drag raced for nine years at the tri-state tracks nearly every week that they were open. I drove the LT and SS before ordering. I equate the V6 with the 327/350 power of the old days (except with great gas mileage now!) and the V8 with the 396/427. I'm fine with the power of the V6 and love the gas mileage, especially on a trip.

As for 1LT v. 2LT, my wife and I both have bad backs and over the years we have found that cloth seats are generally more comfortable for us than leather, which was the main reason we selected the 1LT. I agree, it is a bargin...and it looks great!

After 16 months, every time I get into this car it puts a smile on my face. I can be having an absolute pain in the %$& of a day at work (I own the place), and getting in my Camaro to run to the PO or bank or wherever and I am instantly in a good mood. It is tough to put a value on that benefit!
