V6 to v8

I have a 2011 1LT camaro ,but I've been weighing my options about super charging or turbo charging my engine.but I thought why not just swap out my v6 engine for a automatic v8. It should cost around the same I think to do it.can't find a good web site to buy one so if anybody have any good ones please post.the reason I just didn't buy a v6was didn't have the money at the time and I asked my self why mod a v6 for 5000$.I don't know if it's even possible, don't know anyone who's done it yet. I love my v6 and it's going to be a car I keep for the rest of my life.but just need more power and v8 sound love it!.

Honestly you would be better off to trade your car in for a SS model if you want a V8.

The SS comes with so many other things to help complement the bigger motor. Bigger brakes being one.

This has been covered numerous times. It's not like the old days when you could easily swap engines from one car to the next. For one, the engine won't just bolt in. You'll have to have mounts made. You'll need the engine harness from a V8, new tranny, possibly rear end, axles, etc. The list goes on. Those are just the parts. Unless you're quite handy with a socket, you'll spend a couple thousand more in labor to do it all. In the end, it would cost you a arm and leg to do it. It would be much more economical to sell your LT and buy a used SS or even new. Not only will you get all the above, but you have a nice warranty to go with it.

Very good advice here.....it is NOT a ggod/cost effective swap to do.

You can have it TT turnkey for $7999.

I bought the V6 a year ago, which was great. But then I wanted more performance and I found out that no one makes real performance upgrades for the V6. While it was still low on miles, I realized the only thing to do was to trade up to the SS, and I never looked back. I believe you will be much happier upgrading to the V8 rather than to piecemeal a V8 out of the LT. Much more expensive, much more hassle, and in the end, it's still not an SS. Go SS...you may even be able to trade in for a lightly used one for maybe 5K! Do it!
