Worried?

Are you worried/concerned about anything in particular about the new Camaro? I'm confident that GM will make it an awesome car, but I'm still worried about weight. It's been discussed to death and it's all speculation at this point, but to be honest I'm not so sure I would pony up (no pun intended) the cash if it weighs in at 3700-3800 lbs. 3500, maybe, there's always room for dropping weight, but not by 500-600 pounds. I really just want a track machine, road legal, but I don't mind tossing even the most basic comforts. Anything worrying you?

Every worry I have seems to be assuaged by the good people at GM eventually. I was worried about weight, but they kept the massive G8 under 4,000 pounds, so I have no doubt they'll be able to keep the much smaller Camaro lightweight. I also worry about price, but fbodfather himself assured us we would be pleasantly surprised at how low they'll keep the price. Given the weak dollar and GM's new favorable labor contract, I have every reason to believe that. I still worry a bit about dealer gouging and supply problems, but I'm waiting a few years anyway for various reasons, so I think that will all even out after a while. So far all the changes we know about that have been made from the concept to the prototype have been acceptable.

I know the car is going to be amazing. and like stovt said, the fbodfather assured us it will be priced well. So no worries here.

weight weight weight.. everyone worries about weight... DONT! The guys who went to the focus group meeting are saying that weight is not an issue.. so look for this to come in at around the mustang.. IE between 3400-3700.

My only worry is having 3 cars to choose from and all of them being comparable to the other (Mustang/Challenger/Camaro). From all indications the challenger is out due to production numbers the first 2-3 years. The mustang is the one in the dark right now.. not much info on 09+ model years..
The camaro is in the same boat as the mustang.. just not much true information yet.

I could live with 3400 to 3700 pounds. That seems acceptable for a mid-size RWD V8 powered coupe. Of course some lightweight aftermarket parts couldn't hurt none...

Not worried about weight one bit. Jenny Craig has been mentioned...the designers and well...everyone has mentioned that weight is one of their biggest priorities. With that much attention to weight, I'm not worried...not for a second. I just hope they don't "cheapen" the Camaro in the attempt to make it lighter...mainly the interior aspect. And...if they do, give people the option of ordering billet aluminum for some of those key parts in the cab. Then, if they complain it weighs too much, it's their own deal.

But, I for one, want my interior looking as true to the concept as possible...w/ the billet, etc. If that makes it weigh a few more pounds, then so be it.

I could care less about the weight, you know they have to stay in competition with competitors... so it will be just fine.... if anything at all I just hope that the interior of the car will be 'quality-full' and they stick to the original concept for the actual car.... alotta times you hear car companies say the car will be like the concept but it isn't.

GM has been doing a good job with their cars, but I worry about the following:

Two V6's meaning no mid level V8 and the V8 version costing over 30K.

A fat hog when it comes to weight, it should come in at no more than 3500 pounds (I'm a RX8 owner and am WELL aware at the evils of weight with performance/fuel economy/balance/handling/etc)

High price

Looks, engine, and fuel economy (GM V8's do a great job considering) are not my concern.

What if I were to remind you....that there will be an "affordable V8 well under 30k"? Plus it's competing with the Stang so.....

I'll be honest, can't remember where I heard that, but it was definitely from a reputable source...or I wouldn't have posted it

I hope the affordable V8 is the LS3 with 400 - 430 hp and I want it lighter than the GTO. I dont even need it to be well under maybe just right at 30k
