steering column lock

need urgent help. My steering column is locked and I am unable to turn the ignition key. The car is in the driveway and the wheels are turned all the way to the right. and there it sits. Is there a simple solution to this problem!

I am afraid that when the go to load the car on the flat bed to tow it to the dealership the will have a problem getting it loaded. What can be done?

The car has 250 miles on it. Help.

Had a similar problem with my '96. Turned out I was just afraid to give it enough grunt. A good pull (not a yank, a pull) by my buddy while I turned the key did the trick. Steering column is surprisingly strong...

YES.............
Take the presure off the steering wheel by turning it while you turn the key.
It will unlock. Turn it to the Right !
let me know how you make out.

This happened once on my Trailblazer...sprayed some WD40 in the lock cylinder and it never happened again.

ALSO...if it's an A6, try pushing the sifter forward and turning the key.

Try turning the wheel when you turn the key.

Maybe, but if not, we might be helping the guy out. If so, who cares?
