Whipple Installed! *JACKED* :)

First off like to say that the whipple complete kit is exactly that, a complete kit! The fit of all the parts was excellent, not cutting or splicing of wires, everything had there own harnesses and connectors. The overall installation took me about 14 hours over the course of 5 days without help. I want to thank Dave at dsx.tuning for helping me with HP Tuners tune to get this thing driving excellent. It drives so much smoother than it ever did stock. I will be getting it dyno tuned in the spring when I get a wideband, but for now it drives great.

As for the install, it was pretty straight forward although the directions have you jump around a little, and there should be a couple of omissions and a couple of clarifications, tech support was helpfull and relitivley quick with responses via telephone, definately get the color pdf through the email, that will help over the black and white copy they send.

The hardest part about the installation was bleeding the intercooler which took 2 days, I pressurized the system over and over, like they recommend but what worked for me was removing the intercooler reservior and picking it up over my head and sqeezing the tubing to free up the air pockets that the formed hoses naturally make, within 2 minutes of doing that all the air was bleed out of the system and the electric pump was moving the coolant.

So in the spring I should have some numbers to go along with this installation, I am thinking I should be around 550 - 570 range with a conservative dyno tune, I currently have 1 7/8" headers, no cats and magnaflow competition exhaust along, JRE 4.11 gears and of course the whipple using the 4" pulley, can't wait for the spring!

Congrats. I have a kit used to pressurize the radiator to find leaks. I chose the cap that fit the reservoir and shot I quick hit of compressed air into it. That's how I finally got the coolant moving.

I tried that too and I was getting decent flow, but after I picked up the reservior over my head and straightend out the preformed bends I got alot more air out of the system, after driving around town tonight my IAT's were in the 60's and 70's

This pic thing is not working for me too well, the file sizes that I have are huge, all I can manage is one pic, sorry guys

Is this an L99 car or an LS3? Either way your rwhp goals are a bit on the high side. If my memory serves me correct, isn't the 4" pulley the one that comes with the kit? If so, on an L99 car you'll be at 500ish and figure 520/530 on an LS3. I would def get a better CAI on that thing and watch it pick up another 20 rwhp. The stock one is way to restrictive. Good luck and enjoy it. Hopefully the snow will hold off for us!!

very nice.. considering installing my Maggie myself so it was good to hear the whipple wasn't that difficult, I believe the installs should be pretty close...

FYI - you might try to upload all your pics to photobucket and post them that way. Photobucket will resize your pics for you.

It is the 4" pulley, and it is an LS3...I think that 550 - 575 is pretty easily attainable with a good tune, I had to reuse my stock intake, the injen that I have would not work and when I tune it I will probably go with the ADM or CAI intake...lemme try another pic

These cars should come with a Whipple from the factory. They give these the low end torque they need to feel better.

575, not a chance and with that 4" pulley your are going to be limited. May I ask why you believe you'll get so much rwhp with basically a stock whipple and a tune? You'll need 10 psi to get near that 575 number. I don't think the 4" can make that. With the addition of a better cai you will really help yourself tremendously and you'll approach 550 rwhp but you original question you still had that stock box in place. I hope you hit the goals you want. Best of luck!!
