i just got a CEL ! The only thing I have on my car is a k&n CAI and slp loudmouth exhaust. Would either of those things cause a CEL..?

not sure. do you have a scan tool? if not take it back advanced auto or auto zone - have em scan it and give you the number. let us know so we can tell you what it is!

Yup, I've become friends with the people over at autozone, in the last three days I've been there twice having them check my codes.

Also, it is free so that's pretty sweet.

Well I went to autozone and the codes were p2177 and p2179..?

Did they give you a print out that looks like a receipt? Because it will tell you what the possible probelms could be.

Yeah one code said I was running too lean and another said it was my o2 sensor... But the code wasn't for a gm it said Mazda he said it's pretty much the same thing but the gm codes were "pending" so I'm assuming his system wasn't up to date for the 2011 model... I have an appointment at the dealership tomorow so hopefully it's not too serious

So I tried using my auto start and it won't work! Would that's have anything to do with the codes I'm pulling? Is it some kind of safety? Or am I just SOL?

Yeah it's because you have a CEL. My auto start won't work either due to a CEL I have from my headers. I doubt there is anything wrong with your car, given the mods you have.

I disagree. Theres no way CAI and exhaust should cause a CEL. Something is loose or something is wrong.

These engines already run really rich, it is possible to get a CEL due to a CAI making the engine run even more rich. I know, because it happened to me when I fabbed together a CAI before I had an Airaid one. Plus he's getting a code that talks about running rich. I'm not saying this is what caused it, but I wouldn't rule it out.

maybe your MAF senor isn't installed properly?

But I have had that CAI installed for over 2000 miles, and I haven't heard of anyone else getting one with the KN. I guess it could be, but it would be unusual.

Car won't run if it's in backwards. Plus it only fits in one way on the KN.

I had both my CAI and slp loudmouth on for atleast 1k miles and it didn't give me the CEL until now.. I'll see if it pops back up after I get it removed tomorow
