Ground effects or not

I just purchased a 45th Ann. Camaro Conv. and am considering ordering the color matching ground effects.
Any thoughts

I think they make the car. Look at some pictures and see what you think. Most dealers don't have any cars on the lot with them installed.

I'd definitely get them they give the car a sharper sportier look I have a buddy w the exact same color vert as I do and people compliment mine a lot more than his why? The ground effects change the whole look of the car

Personally, I like the clean lines of the Camaro without the GFX. The GFX on certain cars really does look sharp though, just not to my taste. I especially like some of the front splitters.

Having the FX has a couple drawbacks, the main one obviously is the much lower clearance and higher risk of curb rash and bottoming out on high speed bumps/humps. This is even more of a risk if you lower the car. Might take a walk through a busy parking lot and take a look at the sampling of cars there to see if there is noticeable damage and how much on other cars with GFX (not just Camaros). Of course, you may also be a very cautious drvier (and with the GFX you need to be to keep them sharp), so this may not be an issue.

If you change your factory order to include the GFX, the vehicle will come without the standard rocker panels from the factory. If you order the GFX as an add-on accessory, make certain that the dealer who installs them gives you the rocker panels that came with the vehicle. I have heard of some dealers replacing the rocker panels and then keeping them in stock to sell, but the original parts are yours to claim.

If I am not mistaken, they come unpainted to the dealer (boxed and shipped, if an accessory - otherwise they are piled inside the car for shipment with the car). The dealer finishes the install and paints them. I have seen GFX painted different colors from the body and look quite sharp!

Cyber Grey on Red Jewel tintcoat looked particularly sharp.

With the painted to match GFX all the way. I think it makes the car look fast just sitting there. I really like the back.

I love the gfx but after having a 2000 with them I know how impossible it is to not scrape bottom.

I'm going a different direction. I'm going to get a ground kit that matches the new z28 concept that was announced. Now THAT looks mean.

Could have sworn I read on here somewhere that the factory ground effects don't reduce ground clearance a bit.

I love them on the front/sides... having second thoughts about the rear diffuser. Looks really nice though with the silver bezels on a black or charcoal color

I have ZERO clearance issues...

most aftermarket kits lower more than the oem anyway

They definetely change the clearance. I like the look but if you lower your car any they will definetly scrub. I do not like the rear chrome piece that goes around the exhaust pipes.

Just my opinion

Don't do the GFX, keep it clean. The GFX looks a little Bada-Bing!

I really want the Hennessy chin and sides but they cost Way too much. I'm still looking for something similar to them.

Wink

We went with RAZZI ...Front clearence is only about 5 inches...
Great fit & finish... Saved about $500 bucks after paint & install.

I say go for it. I really like the GFX. You don't see many Camaros with them.
