Stall converter question

2-weeks ago I had a cam installed along with a 3200 circle D stall converter & trans cooler. when the car is in sports mode say accelerating at 3000 rpm when the trans shifts from 1st-2nd & 2nd to 3rd it feels like its slipping. sometimes the rpms will go from 3000 to 5000 then drop back down into the rpm range where it should be.It doesn't do it everytime just once in a while. It doesn't really do this so much in the drive mode but it just doesn't seem to really grab the next gear. I took it back and the tuner, He drove around with me and made some adjustments but it still does it. He said this is normal and it's called "Flaring" and at WOT it will lock in so not to worry about it.
Is this normal ?
I have never had a stall converter before. I feel like I'm going to fry something in the tranny.

The shifts will feel sluggish when driving easy, but have never had the rpm go up during a shift. Sounds like something is not right to me.
This is just my opinion and I could be wrong.

Trans tune or issue with the converter. You will fry theclutch paks in a hurry if it does it very long. Good luck!

Yup, and I am gonna lean toward the trans tune side of things. These things are complicated and the tuner really needs to understand all the tables/settings and torque management really well....

Tampa Tuning (vendor on here) can take care of it mail-order if you have HP Tuners, or Ted @ Jannetty with the SCT.

It should NOT jump up in RPMS like you stated while shifting!!!! Thre is something not right and I would get it checked out ASAP before you "cook" the trans.

Yes, I should have mentioned ADM as well. Good rep and would trust their abilities as well.

As said it's flaring. Probly in the tune.Shift times are probly too short and the shift pressure is off.

Just spoke with the shop, The car has not been fixed yet, After being there 8 days, They say now it shifts correct in the Drive and in M mode but when you use Tap shift, it still slips in the 2nd to 3rd gear shift, and they were going to take it to the dealer to reflash the tune back to the factory stock trans tune, a short time later they called me back, and said that the dealer does not have any space or time to flash my car that they can't get it in untill Tuesday. But if I want to pick my car up and drive it, I could. This is really starting to piss me off. I told them I would pick up the car Friday. I feel like they are working on the high dollar cars and putting me off. It's been there 8-days and still haven't figured out a tune issue ? The tuner at the shop said he has never seen this problem before. That he is stumped and they have done 100's of 2010's, That there must be something different in the 2011 they haven't seen before. I really don't want to get my car untill it's fixed 100%
Any Thoughts ?

I would really contact one of the proven A6 tuners.......this is not a hard fix for those that know. The trans will not survive many "flare" slips as it cooks the clutchs & steels in seconds.

From what I know it's all in the trans tune, the key is how much torque management they are taking out, and line pressure. My advice is find a better shop.
