Mace Insulator installed today
Thanks to a good friend helping me, I got the mace 25mm spacer installed today with my vararam. The hardest part was getting the back bolts out. I had to bevel the intake tube on the vararam a little to try to maximize the air path, but not too bad.
Took it for a spin, and I immediately felt the difference, or at least it felt stronger. I used my iphone pocket dyno app, and it showed lower numbers than before either the vararam or the spacer, but I'm chalking that up to a defective app, because it feels stronger. I also got my ZL1 spoiler and some new foglights installed, still need to wire up everything, but they're in place. |

can you show pics of your spoiler installed?
How much is the mace and what exactly does it do? I have asked a few people and noone gives a definite answer. does anyone have DYNO readings on the increases you receive with the MACE?

This has a few dyno pulls on it, great low end torque. Basically, the theory is that it increases the runner length by an inch, increasing low end torque, but it adds torque across the whole band, and increases power a little, although you lose a little at top end, but who runs their car at 7000 rpm for any period of time? But the fact that these engines are direct injection, there's some debate on that about runner length, since there's no fuel mixture until after the intake. It also separates the intake from the cylinder heads and block, so it insulates it, keeping your intake temps way down. I drove it into work this morning, 40 miles one way, and the intake manifold was about the same temp as the ambient air, about 60 degrees. I can definitely feel the difference, it seems much stronger when accelerating. The mace is about $150, but I bought mine used for half that. It's worth every penny of full price, IMHO. |
