not everyone is eligible for usaa. you have to have either been in the military or have had a family member that has been in the military that is above you in the family tree (i.e your dad/mom/grandma/grandpa not your brother or sister) it works vertically not horizontally. We opened our membership to all prior military that servered HONORABLY prior to 1996 (ie 1995,94,etc) no matter what rank.

You don’t need to get the auto insurance to get the $750 discount. as long as you are eligible for the USAA auto and property you can get the $750 discount. so if you have a better rate on your auto insurance currently you can still get the $750 discount.

I do work for USAA so that is case if your wondering or heard otherwise

Again this is for auto and property insurance. Some things are open to the general public like Credit cards/Life insurance/etc

When I tried to register to get my go code it asks for my military status and the only options are Active or Reserve. Is there some place else that I need to go to get the GO Code or do I just go ahead take my proof of USAA Membership to the dealer and let him do the leg work for the Go Code?

Thanks for the help.
USAA was open to any rank from 1996-present so if you got out of the military and never signed up for USAA before you separated/retired/honorably discharged or by the end of the calendar year after your separation date then you unfortunately are not eligible for USAA :(

The active and reserve Military can receive an additional $750.00 discount. USAA members do not need to fill that out to get the normal $750.00.

This is one reason I said there is no reason to call USAA. The phone reps are absolutely the best in the business, but they can't be expected to know details like this, especially since the rules changed last month.

Thanks SikMaro for the excellent info...
Also, thanks for all the GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE you provide us members.

There's a reason they win all the awards year after year...

Ok. So, quick question. I first heard about this discount in December and signed up for USAA in January. My father has been a USAA member for 40 years and served in vietnam for the Army. I inquired about the USAA rates, but my State Farm current rates are better. My "membership card" has to be printed and mailed, they said expect 6-8 weeks before delivery. My car is due at the dealership early next week and I dont think I will have my card by then. Shouldnt I just be able to get the dealership to call USAA and verify I am a full benefit USAA membership and thus qualify for the $750 rebate?

You HAD to show your card or you got the discount by showing your card? There is a difference...
