Abby, I would intially assume that people are looking or waving at your car its hard to make out whose in the camaro I think. Though based on your pic, if you re getting out of the car then you would have to wonder what they are looking at. In your signature pic, my mind keeps going Camaro-Woman, Woman-Camaro. Double attention getter.

I usually give the brief wave (like you see the corvette people do to eachother) smile and then go on with my driving. But if I really like their car then it's a thumbsup, wave, smile and go on with my driving. If someone starts hollering or making me nervous then I just fiddle with the stereo or change the CD etc.

I'm not a lady, but I second that. You are going to send the wrong message if you start smiling and waving, and you will end up getting followed by people who you don't want to get followed by. I'd just be yourself whatever that is. When ever I drive by a 2010 camaro I give the thumbs up, but they don't always give it back. You being a female should be careful about sending the wrong message.

Yup, I second that, double attention getter.

Right now I just sort of stay to myself unless they initiate conversation or they wave first.
I'd just be yourself, and be safe. People come up to me all the time at gas stations. It's fun most of the time , but sometimes I just want to get gas and get going. A far as your license plate, if someone has the ability to run a plate it doesn't matter if it says something or not.

wow...
thanks for the thread Aby. for the longest time, i thought people around here were just stuck up, snooty, unobservant, whatever. i grew up in a little country town where everybody waves & smiles at everybody, so when i got here for college, i thought people were just being rude or something not returning anything or looking at me like i'm some kind of weirdo for being friendly

i truely never thought about it from a woman's trying-to-not-get-followed-&-slaughtered-by-an-axe-murderer perspective

my vote is a as being a neutral 'i like your car' statement

I have to say, it has been so refreshing to find wonderful Camaro people (for the most part), male and female, on the road and at events. And also true muscle car lovers, their families, etc., I always take the time to share my Camaro tracking story and let people sit in the car and also their kids. It has just been a blast. I have been chatting with some GM people and execs telling them the same thing, they are thrilled we love our cars so much!

I'm glad I started it too Zebra, I would have never guessed so many guys take a smile or a wave as a message that you are flirting with them. I'm going to just do the or nothing at all.

This morning driving into work I saw a really cool Charger that was bright yellow, but custom black strips, and obviously modified, and the guy was checking out my car but I noticed he had a female passenger so I didn't do anything. It's a shame you can't just say "cool car" without it being a big deal.

Yes, I love getting into conversations about the car and letting people hear it or look inside it when I'm parked somewhere. It's so much fun to see them get joy out of something we love so much.

Cool thread! You asked a great question....

So from what I have seen is, the ladies in my area that have a Camaro, don't wave, smile, or even turn their heads when I drive by them in my car. It's as if I'm invisable to them...I always try to give a simple wave to let them know that I see them, like their car and I think it's cool they share the same love the the Camaro as me.

Now if I see another guy on the road, it seems like they always return the wave or head nod.

No, I'm sure they see you, but maybe they are extra cautious out there.
Southerners seem to be friendlier than most, but that does not mean others in the country aren't, just a bit more reserved, that's all.

So...i was driving home yesterday and a girl in an IOM SS with no stripes pulls up next to me at a light. she's in the left turn lane i'm going straight. Anyway, i look over and wanted to give a gesture or say nice ride, but she never looked over. She just stared straight the whole time.

This got me thinking...do most people not really care to look around them while driving? by that i mean, look at other people in their cars? almost seems like you are invading their privacy, or something? Or are people just shy to look next to them at a light? Kind of hard to explain...
