I'm always super nice to the cops, shake their hand when they leave and stuff. Oh well. Glad it doesn't go in insurance or license.

Here you go,

Texas plates MUST be on front bumper

This is a way for them to generate money no matter how nice and polite you are. With the money troubles most states and counties are having right now, don't think you will not get pulled over for this and if you do, you will likely get a ticket for it. It is also a probable cause and you can get hit with more fines if they really want to.

I thought the law only said it had to be visible from the front of the car. Guess I lose my case if I get pulled over. Though I drive up and down 35 from Fort Worth to Austin all the time and I've never been pulled over. If I do get pulled over my plate is on my floor, I'll just throw it up in the windshield and say it fell down and see what happens... :-)

I drive 35 a lot and around town and have passed cops a lot, nothing has happened. However I have been pulled over twice by state troopers in the middle of no where for it..

My plate was in my windshield, I told him and he said that doesn't work, and has to be on the bumper.

Right then, well I ain't drillin the holes, so I guess if I do happen to get pulled over we'll see what the damage is. I've been in front of many a cop out here though and not even a look, so I'm keeping my hopes up!

Or you can do this:

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73549

I do find it interesting that there seems to be a rise in cops watching for missing front plates.

I guess its a plus side living where I live. Right next to Las Cruces, NM. In NM front plates aren't required so the cops in this area aren't ever looking at them. (40 miles between TX and NM)

I saw on the news the other day that Texas is getting stricter on no plates in the front of the car. My guess if for the intersection cameras up everywhere now.
