Do you maybe get a little more scrutiny? Absolutely you do in a car like this. But, again it comes down to are you breaking any laws and or acting like a fool.

Cops are just like everyone else. I work right night door to a station. Literally the same parking lot. The other day about 6 officers were out checking out my ride when i was leaving work. They all wanted to check her out, i started her up, popped the hood gave her some throttle. They were all digging it. And yeah of course you know i had to chirp em when i pulled out .

I know thats what i keep hearing! But I've always wanted to give it a shot so I'm gonna go for it. I come in contact with alot of troops and they all say that "Its gotta be something you've always wanted to do cause if not your gonna hate it." So i figure since I always wanted to drive that Blue and Gold cruiser with the flashy Lights I should be ok. lol

I used to drive a gold 1969 Mach 1 Mustang as my daily driver until I got my Camaro. No tickets for years in the Mach. I've had 3 in the last year in the Camaro, one for 65 in a 60. Cops do go for the Camaro's. Plus I can feel the self righteous "we're saving lives by slowing you down" BS in the way they talk. Not all cops are jerks, just 99% of the one's I've dealt with.

Well, its probably not the car, but who doesnt notice them? My record isnt the best here in Florida, Had the Camaro for 1 1/2 years now, pulled over 4 times, twice in 3 days coming back from Tennessee, One time on the way up and 1 on the way back. 2nd time he admitted he just wanted to see the car up closer!

Yea, you were...your tint.

You guys who say you can see just fine at 5% at night are just flat out lying.
I am not talking about 5% in a WELL lit area. That doesn't count. Try manuevering this vehicle in a dark neighborhood or parking lot. It just doesn't happen. The windshield visual may be fine, but not the side windows. I have 20/20 and have never ever had issues with vision. I still have to roll down my windows at night when I back into my garage and driveway...and I only have 12%.

5% is pretty ridiculous, some stretch limos have lighter tint..you will be stopped and it is not the cops fault. I am not a big ticket writer, I MAYBE write 1-2 a week and they are all "fix it" tickets. My primary focus is K9 enforcement..K9 units are authorized to tint down to 5% to keep cabin heat minimal for the dog. It is terrible, I would love to trade up to a 15-20. I literally have to roll down windows when backing up these vehicles.

Also, not bashing anyone here...but walking up on a car with less than 10% with the windows up is the most unsettling thing I have ever done. If any of you are in Orlando and want to do a ride along, I will gladly let you sit passenger then get out of the vehicle with me and walk up to a car with the windows up, ignition on, and have that car occupied with someone behind 5% tint...my guess is you will either want me to give you a gun as well or you will decide to walk back to the car. Again...not a bash, just trying to educate on the reasons why things are handled certain ways. He didn't point the gun at you, he only put his hand on a holster. A holster that is 3-4 inches above our waist line. I have to be careful not to just rest my arm or hand on it when I am sitting in line at publix...it happens.

I actually had permission from the DMV to have my windows that dark as I have sensitive eyes. DR approved. And I always roll down my window and put my hands on the steering wheel. The issue was the car. They check my tint, then my tires, my papers and everything else, all were fine every time. I respect the police, and know it must be a rush to walk up on cars when you don't know what is inside. I only ask for respect back no matter who I am or what I am driving.

I do agree it was really hard to see at night.... So now I just buy better sunglasses, I am getting a 5% tint strip for my windshield tho, being 5'3" the visor is pretty much useless!!!

i live in a very samll town and its known for its speed trap... the city cops watch you like a hawk... I drive right by the police department in my camaro and i imediately notice a cruiser pulls out behind me. I know Im not speeding since I just came thru a traffic light that had me stopped and city wide speed limit is 25mph. I make it to one intersection, give signal to make a left and go no more than 75 yard to the next intersection to make a right and give signal... before I could make the next 100 yards I see the blue lights go off and I turn into a church parking lot. Knowing the reputation I go ahead and have all paper work ready for the officer. He steps up and exclaims I was 1 mile an hour over the limit and I should be more careful and then he confesses his true reason.. This was the 1st Camaro he had seen and hoped I wouldnt mind for a closer look. had to let him drool some and then had to break the news I had to be going since I was on my way to work. Now I have drop my truck, Vette, 78 Trans Am thru town and admit I was over the limit by at least 5 mph and not once was I pulled in those vehicles.. I have seen officers on patrol do break neck speeds just to get behind or beside me for closer inspection and have had a few give me a thimbs up as they go by.

I actually gave my favorite cop a ride in my Camaro, shortly after I got it...lol

Actually, I met him, and became friends because of a family emergency and we are still good friends since 2008

One time he was next to me at a red light in his patrol car, and when the light turned green, he let me

I am sure that all the cars around us wondered why he didn't chase after me and give me a ticket, but it was the coolest experience

I'm curious to know about any experiences you all have had with the law while driving your Camaro.

Thanks!
must bear in mind,if you drive one of these, then you WILL be watched, and NOT just by people looking at the great car you own,but by cops as well!..the MAIN reason you have to be a little MORE careful when driving the camaro,is because you ARE a target!..they can pull you over for "suspicion" if they want to,and trust me,they WILL pull you over FIRST,as opposed to pulling over, say a toyota yaris,or some other non-descript car!..THAT'S WHY you have to obey all speed limits and rules of the road.other than being careful,DO buy yourself a radar detector, just so you can CHECK your speed from time to time, and because you can at least know where the cops are,and react accordingly!..drive the car,and enjoy it!..but be careful too!..car attracts both good,AND bad attention!..

(b.s!)..that's not true!..granted it goes without saying that ALL should obey the laws of the road, however don't ever make the mistake of believing THIS car is NOT a target!..in MY view, you are making a BIG mistake if you believe that!

i agree, and basically that is very true, but you CANNOT be in denial about the car!..you WILL be watched!..and more closely than other cars on the road!...count on this!..as stated before, drive it,and enjoy it,and be careful!..i know i try to be when i am in it!..with the economy "tanked" and budgets being "busted" all over the country, all bets are off!..money's money!..got my "val1" on order as a reminder to do the "right" thing.

unfortunately, the car being "arrest me" red might have had something to do with it..,cops DO like that color!..for some reason, they always zero in on that color!
can't begin to understand why!

I think there are less "kids" in the Gen 5 Camaros. More people respect the car now. I don't think it will be a "Cop Target" like they used to be. Times have change and so has the way people act. I know NY is different from AZ, as they are more focused on the big issues here then the petty BS in my little upstate town in NY.
