I just got into an argument at work about this sort of thing. I was just announcing that my car is now an orphan and one of my coworkers who i generally agree with goes on about how the government is wasting money on gm and chrysler and should just let them die and how foreign cars are superior in every way and domestics suck and blah blah blah. I asked him for examples of domestics that are absolutely crappy and he had nothing to say. I asked him if he knew how many jobs would be lost in america, canada and mexico if GM and Chryler went under... again nothing to say. I asked him to tell me how exactly his 05 Camry is better than my 04 grand am... he shook his head and walked away. Two days later his dads Sante Fe broke down while we were working. His Sante Fe has been in the car shop (conveniently located right door to our store) at least 3 times in the last year for not starting and various other random breakdowns. I've had to change my oil 9 times, tires twice, and wiper fluid container once (because a piece of rebar was sticking up really high from a parking stopper thing and it punctured it when i pulled up) in the 14mnths i've had my car... who builts crappy cars again.

First off this makes me worried about my dad and mom. Dad bought a Prius a few years ago and mom drives that in the summer when dad drives his Honda Varadero motorbike (don't hate on the latter, very nice bike). I don't want to this to happen while they're driving the car.
Secondly let's hope this article gets the attention it deserves and hold those bores at Toyota responsible! |

Common misconception. You thought you were pressing the accelerator pedal, which is incorrect. Technically, it was the loud pedal. Had the same issue in our 97 Saturn. Press the pedal, car makes more noise but doesn't go any faster. Thus, loud pedal not accelerator.

Well, I've seen a lot of Civics with park benches bolted to their trunk lid....maybe that solves the problem?
