Wow!!! That's...WOW

The question before asking for it in a production car...is its emissions output...

Still - WOW!!!

That cam is not going to be able to pass emissions to much overlap and tight lobe separation, that's why it is a off road package. But here is a thought, back in the day my dad told me about the dealer saying they could switch his cam in his chevelle to a 427/425 cam. Maybe dealers will become more passionate about cars like back in the day and start offering customers these sort of options. Like let's say a LS9 cam upgrade for the LSA.

Is this the same engine as what they showed in the SSX last year?

I would say pretty close with the SSx using dry sump oiling.

The SSX, being a year-ago teaser, probably had a similarly-modified engine, but NOT likely this specific cam... IIRC, no specific HP figures were disclosed.

2011 CHEVROLET CAMARO SSX TRACK CAR CONCEPT

Ever since the new Chevrolet Camaro's launch last year, owners have explored the performance potential of the car. The Camaro SSX Track Car is a concept for transforming a street Camaro SS into a closed-course track car, and a showcase for new performance parts.

"The SSX concept explores taking Camaro's excellent street performance and extending it into a road course context," said Chris Perry, vice president, Chevrolet marketing. "The car expresses Camaro performance while also signaling Chevrolet's new commitment to developing and offering a portfolio of performance parts for racing enthusiasts."

The Camaro SSX Track Car has a purposeful aesthetic, with exterior appointments and suspension modifications aimed at road course performance. They include carbon fiber aero parts – front splitter and adjustable rear wing – lightweight carbon fiber body panels, revised lower grille and unique brake cooling ducts. The carbon body panels significantly lower the Camaro's weight, as does the elimination of much of the production car's sound-deadening material, carpeting and rear seat.

Low-gloss Icy White Metallic exterior paint is contrasted with the carbon aero parts, door graphics/racing number and red details; and this competition-ready Camaro rolls on dedicated track wheels and tires. This concept was constructed with input from Pratt and Miller, Chevrolet partner in Corvette Racing, and Riley Technologies using parts proven in the Grand Am racing series.

VEHICLE HIGHLIGHTS

• Icy White Metallic color with red accents and door graphics
• Carbon fiber hood, fenders, door and deck lid

Iam intrested in this cam, it might make for a pretty nasty street car with bolt-ons! Nasty sound and good torque so the 480hp is the ls3 with just this cam, so mabey with headers and intake your looking at a 520-530hp ls3! I would love to see this cam tested.

Again, folks, these "power" ratings are NOT "as-installed in a Camaro", and that's where some of their "optimism" comes from...

Getting 100 honest net extra hp from a relatively mild cam (.525" lift) and non-CNC'd heads (L92's are NOT the be-all and end-all of LS cylinder heads!), "as installed" with exhaust (regardless of whose you have) and emissions compliance and a streetable tune is a very TALL order to deliver... Remember, ASA runs "spec" fuel, NOT the stuff you'll find in CA., where emissions and tune are two words you can't avoid.

For liability's sake, as well as day-to-day practicalities, GMPP states "for off-highway usage"...

I repeat, this is NOT a street-legal alternative to an LS7 for us...

A hell of a choice for your "non-emissions necessary" hotrod, though!

Slightly (italix'd for a reason) better flow numbers...but NOT equal to LS7 heads...

The 110* guarantees a great "drive-in" lope...badass, to use a popular phrase...but hell for vacuum for your power brakes!

Cam requires valve spring P/N 12586484; 'ASA' cam for off-highway use.
MSRP $459.60

I think you'll find the 525 hp rating is calculated differently than "as installed Net HP" as per RPO-equipped...

Believe me, this engine with this cam, will NOT outpower an LS7...

You know that the LS3 and the L92 are basicly the same head when it comes to flow? The only difference in the GMPP catalog is that the LS3 has a slight advantage in the amount of lift it can take.

LS3 max lift (as machined from GM) is .570
L92 max lift (as machined from GM) is .510

They where made due to the cost of fuel and to give a car to the rice burners. Not a true muscle car. Pony car yes, muscle car no. SS, ZL1 Are muscle cars

Not sure I follow. In the first half of your post, you say that the LS3 Camaro isn't a true muscle car. Then you say that the Camaro SS is a muscle car. But every LS3 Camaro is also an SS. So which is it?
