So the good news for me is that it looks like the 2012 and newer upper radiator hose would eliminate the T on my 2010.
Reason to remove it or swap in an aftermarket setup? They are known to leak at the gaskets and in my case, the housing had cracked and pissed out oil. Luckily I have a good dealer contact and they replaced it.

12577903 cover plate 12611384 gasket 11609289 plug for block 22962571 hose without T (basically a 2012 upper radiator hose) If you have a 12+, you basically need the same items except you'll need a plug for the return coolant line were it enters the lower radiator. I'm considering doing this delete, but waiting for any others that have already done it to chime in. Some members have replaced the factory cooler with an aftermarket cooler, but unsure about a plain delete on a "daily driver". |

Why couldn't you?
Trucks weigh more then our cars, pull 15,000+ loads all without oil coolers. LS1 Fbodys don't have oil coolers. There's tons of factory LS vehicles without oil coolers. If you are tracking (circuit) your car, then obviously you'll benefit from an oil cooler...maybe even upgrade to an aftermarket cooler.

If I road raced I'd do an aftermarket cooler.
Check out this aftermarket cooler setup, this guy road races: http://www.planetlsx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6006
