Lol ya my car is stock as far as the motor, exhaust and intake besides the GMPP exhaust it came with. That was also with the windows down. Gotta have tire squeal and work those brakes!

What did you do to get the video to show?

Have any of you synced your video with telemetry/OBD data?

I haven't with Harry's LapTimer. But if you read their website the app does have the ability to have other devices hooked up to it.

I was just going for something cost effective to record my lap times. It's pretty accurate compaired with the timer rentals at the track.

It is an old school trick.

Take your link, but only the last part of it for example...
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3tbVc4tkjhU
Insert it in the following without the ****'s.
[*u2b]**3tbVc4tkjhU**[/*u2b]
And then it will show up in your post.

Hope this helps a few folks out.

Road racing is like China White Heroin, the buzz is stronger, the high lasts for hours, it's extremely addictive and they are all different.

Record video with Sony (lots of people using GoPro, but I do not like the distortion)

Edit/Shorten video(at home) with something like Adobe Premiere Elements or Microsoft moviemaker.

Then export data from smartphone (I email to a laptop). I synchronize the data and the video plus add gauges in DashWare.

All of the above takes a little work, but the costs are quite low.
What format do you export?

Part 1 of How to Integrate your Video and Harry's Lap Timer data

1. At the track, use Harry's lap timer to record data. Record video.
2. My Sony outputs MPG files. I transfer the files from the Sony to the laptop using an SD card. The Sony is old, but it does a good job.
3. In Harry’s on the smart phone, choose “Lap List”, then choose “Export”, then “Export Lap Data”. I have output types Text(.csv) and Google Earth (.kml) selected. Choose “Mail.” I don’t remember if both are required, but my method seems to work. Put your email address in and hit send. Check your email on your laptop to retrieve. Google mail works great for this. Save your data files from Harry’s to a folder on your lap top.

4. Edit your video. I edit and output an avi. If I try to use MPG, I lose sound in step 5 later. I use Adobe Premiere Elements for simple editing. I shorten the video because I have so much extra stuff in front and at the end that is boring “waiting in the pits” stuff.

4.a If your track portion is more than 15 minutes and you want to post your final output on Youtube (there use to be a 15 minute limit or some other limit), wait until after your merge (sync in Dashware or other program) before chopping off the start. Complete the merge in Dashware (next step), output a movie, then return to Premiere for final chop if it is more than 15 minutes. You can make a Part A and a Part B, or just chop off some of the less interesting stuff.

5. Fire up Dashware.
You will be prompted to browse to your video file. Select it (the AVI from step 4 above) and wait for it to load.
You should now be looking at your video to the left and some input areas to the right. On the right, in “Input Settings” next to Data Fields, click on the red box with the plus. A pop-up dialog box will appear. Click browse and locate your data file from Harry’s. Open the LapTimerGPSRecDB.csv folder and click the csv file in there. After clicking open, return to the dialog box, note Harry’s Lap Timer Clone 1 is already selected in the drop down (on my computer it is). Click “Add.”
6. Synchronize your video and lap data.
Click the Synchronization tab at the top on the right side next to the blue Project tab.
The next part is hard to explain, but your particular track and where your lap timer starts will determine this. You start with a good guess. I drag the little red ovoid blob (session marker) on the green horizontal line,to the right a little bit and then test. Click “Sync with Video” (check box to the right) and then run the movie to check your sync success. Your goal is to adjust your position on the left so that it aligns with what is going on the right. Use sight and sound to tell. High revs should match up with high speeds. Play around until it looks right. Drag the session marker far to the right to make sure your alignment is good throughout your session. ****Make sure your video and lap data are from the same session. I just spent 20 minutes trying to match up a November video with a January data set. ****

Part II, the conclusion, to follow tomorrow. If there is interest, I’ll try to record the desktop while using Dashware and post a tutorial.

I'd be Interested in any help with Harry's thinking of giving it a try myself.

Has anyone tried Dashware's iPhone logger app? Released May 2013 but no reviews listed.

Part II Synchronization (aligning your track video with the data from Harry's Lap Timer)

1. This will sound more complicated than it is. A tutorial in the form of a movie will probably work best.

2. For my particular case (one day of fun) I had 4 sessions in the "data" from Harry's, but only one video for the day. The video was for the third session. When you output data from Harry's, there are a few options, but the ideal one of outputting a single session to match your video, is not on my version (v17.5.4). You can output the last session of the day, or the whole day, or the whole database. I chose the whole day.

3. I was able to solve my problem in the Dashware app. When you import the data file from Harry's, you have the choice of "Edit Data." The set of data opens up. Click the display to "display all lines." Now all you have to do is click on the row which represents the start of your session, and then click on the new button available, "Mark Data Start", then click "Apply", OK, then "Add." How do you know which row marks the start of your session? When you export your data from Harry's, there will be a file "LapTimerDB.csv". Open with notepad (I recommend Notepad or some other simple text browser), or Excel (click on the time to see a better representation of time that makes sense). Note the lapindex (left most entry) for your session date and time. This is your start row for the step just above.

4. Now you are ready to align the video with the data. Click on the synchronization button as stated above. Make a best guess, watch the movie, pause, unclick the "Sync with Video" and move one of the sliders, and then reclick "Sync with Video." I usually have it synced in one lap.

I'll cover gauges in Part III.

Part III - Adding or changing gauges in Dashware

1. Click on the blue "Gauge Toolbox" tab near the upper right side of the screen. Mouse over a gauge and a larger version will display so you can preview them.
2. To remove a guage already on your video, just click on it and then click the delete button on your keyboard.
3. When you see one you like, click on it (frame changes to yellow), then click on the icon, "copy gauge to project." If you want to resize the gauge, I recommend holding down the shift key while dragging your mouse. This will preserve the aspect ratio.
4. When you are done with the gauges, you can save your project (File, Save Project As) and then make your video (File, Create Video). You have several choices on output type. I am not sure which file type will work with Youtube, but avi is usually a good choice.
