Or how about this for craziness... I don't know how long the $25 Knight Rider light is but, if you could find 2 of those and they fit in that area where the lights are in the engine cover, you could put two of those in and put it on the heartbeat setting and it would look like your engine has a heartbeat. And then have the regular Knight Rider display in the mail slot. Might be too much for some but, I think that would look cool.

Darth, I've been thinking about the Knight Rider lights in the mailbox slot....but I never thought of putting it inside my engine cover. Hmmm. That could really be cool. Thanks.

Yeah, like I said, I'd just do the normal one for the mail slot in the mail slot but, the one I've seen posted on here for sale on ebay for $25 a piece would work really well in the engine cover if the size was right. I think I'll investigate that for myself as well. I apologize for not saying so earlier but, you did an excellent job. Most impressive my friend.

OK I checked out the ones on ebay. They're 25 inches long. I'm going to check out my engine cover at lunch and measure it but, I'm guessing it's probably around 16 or 18 inches. My guess is that the LED strip can be modified to accommodate a shorter length or possibly just bending the strip so the edges kinda arch down and follow the contour of the wall of the engine cover would suffice. I think this is definitely doable.

Sorry, it took me awhile to reply. I flaked on measuring and forgot about doing it until I read your post. The length is 15 inches which is less than I thought. That means the $25 knight rider lights are 10 inches too long and you'd have 5 extra inches on each end. It's possible that the lights could be modified to be shorter in length. It's also possible that there may be enough bend in them to kinda bend them downward. I'm thinking about getting a set and just trying it out. At $25 a piece, what the hell.

I just ordered a couple of them. Will take a week to get them but, once I do, I'll see what I can do with them to do this mod. I'm thinking instead of the waffle grill a clear lexan cover for the cutouts.
