The reThickulous microfiber towel is unbelievable.

Pricey, but as the last poster said, you get what you pay for.

I bought the Costco too... But after all those comments, I couldn't help but experiment... As a pharmacist, I have faith in generic products. I know that microfiber towels aren't regulated by the government though

So... I took a blank CD and my costco towel and I rubbed. And rubbed... And again a bit. I tried going back and forth for a while. Then with circular motions. I really can't see a swirl mark.

I'm not pretending to know anything special here, and I trust the advice of the forum specialist. Junkman's and Adam's videos have shown me all I know about care care! I think that if you're looking for the best microfiber towel, you should turn to "better" brands. But for the average Joe (like me!) I think those Costco towel are fine! BTW, I tried a short Google search, but couldn't find a non-chinese microfiber supplier, what company makes Adam's towel (not being testy here, just naturally curious!!!)?

I'll really have to order one from Adam's in order to experiment with both towel!

Yeah there are no American made Microfibers. Adam's get theirs made in korea I think? They claim better Quality Control. Someone correct me if I'm wrong

ye took one from Sam's club, one from advance auto, one I got with a clay system from Meguiars, and another one I got from walmart. rubbed them all on a CD underside and saw no difference in any of them. rubbed in the same spot for like a minute or so applying decent pressure. no scratching or anything. not sure how they would damage paint?

It's not necessarily the fibers that will scratch the paint, it is the dirt that can get caught in them. This goes for any microfiber towel. The ones that you get from these places are just easier to get dirt stuck in that you can't get out.

None of those would be any different. They are all the same cheap microfiber in different colors. Once you feel a quality microfiber or cotton (Adam's, Zaino, Uber, etc.) you will understand the difference.

I really need to just excuse myself from this thread, I really shouldn't care so much what towels other people use. It just pains me to think of a nice Camaro with thrashed paint. Sigh.

Make sure you're looking at the CDs under direct sunlight or lights shining directly at it. Kind of tilt the CDs around and you'll see the marrings. It's not too bad at first but add that to how many times its used on the car and the results are not pretty. I've never used the costco brand but the ones I've bought from autozone, Walmart and Target did not pass the CD test, so I just use them on my door/trunk jams.

Most of the towels I have purchased prior to Adam's towels have FAILED the CD test. Many of those that don't scratch have other issues like excessive linting, which also makes them useless for drying or final wiping.

If you don't see the damage on the CD, then maybe you won't "see" the damage on your paint, in which case, wipe away with your $0.50 towel. Better yet, if you are confident that your cheap towel is safe, wash and dry your car. Then, take your Costco towel and rub it back and forth in the same spot 50 times, roughly simulating how many times you would wipe that spot if you dried your car with it every week for a year.

Then, park it in the direct sunlight or inspect it with a shoplight up close. Have Kleenex nearby when the tears commence.

Go with the Adam's microfiber towels. You will not regret it.
