Just talked with Service. They agree that the KN filter will not cause the delay you are stating. Chances are your torque managment system. They said see if the dealer can check for updates for it, or they suggestted going to a pro-tuner. The delay is normal for all newer vehicles with the torque managment. At-least the delay the had stated on the service ticket you sent over.

Now the KN filter can mess up the Mass Airflow Sensor. So you may get an error from that.

That's the problem...no control...disinformation...price gouging...etc

GM needs to have direct control and establish standards for purchasers not just potential buyers where salespeople see $$ signs in their eyes...

I only go to dealers for a sure thing ...the car I want...and guarantee clauses that cannot be blocked...

Did he mention how many miles on his SS? Sounds like he hasn't even broke the motor in. I read/heard they are real pigs fresh out of the wrapper

Salespeople seeing $$ in their eyes? You do realize that as far as cars are concerned the Camaro is one that the salesperson makes the least money on right?
Average is around $200 to $220 for a Camaro. And which guarantee clauses are you talking about? Warranties? Warranties can be voided for 4 main reasons. Accident Misuse or Alteration, Enviormental or After market chemicals, Insufficient Maintenance, and poor gas quality.

And as for dis-information.. GM is usually the one that gives the dealer the info to begin with. Don't believe me, ask to listen to your tech call tech assist and see if you can make heads or tails of what they are saying

I checked my K&N Air Filter for excess oil when I installed it and it was OK, came directly from K&N. On my last car I got one from a local auto parts store and the oil was very visible on the wrapper so I wiped the filter down with a clean no-lint cloth before installing and had no issue.

I don't want to start an argument, but I find it hard to believe that the sales people are averaging $200/sale on Camaros. I understand that they sell other vehicles as well at the dealership, however, I can't imagine that being remotely prosperous for anybody at that type of margin. I figured at MSRP on my 2SS/RS the dealership made somewhere between $5-7k, meaning the salesperson made a good chunk of change. Then again, I've never worked at a dealership, I just made some educated guesses.

Not trying to sound like a ass towards you. But it has been proven that too much oil on your K&N filter CAN coat your sensors in the oil and mess your your readings. I accidentally put too much on my trucks K&N air filter and it happened to me. I am lucky because i know how to clean it.

For them to want the stock air filter is a legitimate request, i would have no problem delivering it to them.

HOWEVER, your size of problem will not be caused by the oil, and it does sound like a deeper problem as was stated "tq mgmt etc"

You have to oil a K&N filter to have it work properly, the pleats are different material and less microns then a normal paper filter, thats just how they work, and they work alot better then stock. Accel foam filters also come with a oil spray.

The Stealership continues to tick me off to this day.
Its just flat rate guys trying to make a buck. Have to bicker with them every time I go and am disgusted with their lack of knowledge!

From invoice to MSRP is 1500-2500 dollars maybe. The dealership doesn't make 5-7k. I am a sales person at the dealership and will be more than happy to show you the pay vouchers.

Feel free to ask the other dealers on the website. That's what the sales people make after Pack fees and everything. $240 on the Car itself has been the best I have done off the 15 I have delivered and have 10 more in the system

Don't know if it matters now, but I felt that my car would hesitate a bit as well when it was new. Now, 2 months and 2800 miles later, I don't feel it hesitate. Runs like a champ!!!

Seems like everybody is over-oiling the K&N...it happened to me when I had my Tacoma. I guess Toyota took pity on me and only charged me $200 for a new MAF

I bought a K&N air filter for my Camaro (which I am waiting to get delivered).

First off the K&N air filter should be oiled already out of the box so if you are oiling it again it could affect the MAF sensor wires.

I've cleaned my MAF before on other vehicles and it is fairly easy. If I thought I had a problem I would clean it myself and the reset the computer.
