Adam's Clay Bar - Made In Japan - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Hello All,

So I finally decided to use the Porter Cable on my car today. I started off with a wash and then I decided to use the clay bar. I recently bought about $200 worth of products from Adam's. I'm kind of confused though. Adam's is very strict about using only Made in the U.S.A. products and I respect them for that, but upon opening my clay bar today it was wrapped in a clear plastic wrapper that says Made in Japan. I kept the wrapper for all intensive purposes, but not sure what happened here with their strict Made in the U.S.A. policy.

I'll bet the clay bar manufacturer switched it up on them and they weren't aware of it yet. Looks like they are going to have to do some digging to find out what happened.

This same thing happened with their foam gun manufacturer, switched to Taiwan. Give it til Monday and I bet they send out an apology letter and drop the product. They're pretty good when of comes to their parts being made in the USA

I want to make it perfectly clear that I really don't care where the product is made, but they are very strict about what they sell. If it was made at the north pole I would still use it, lol. I have purchased a lot of clay bars before and this one has to be the nicest I've ever used or had. I'm sure Adam's is not going to like this. I would have let it in the wrapper, but I really had to use it.

P.S. And the funny thing is, the Made In Japan is written down the seam where you open it and it was written like 3 times!

Yeah, I wasn't aware of their made in USA policy until I saw that Foam Gun thread. They continue to impress me... I hope they are able to find a suitable alternative to this one.

Foreign made stuff isn't a deal breaker for me either as long as it's good stuff, but I do like the fact that they have a Made in USA policy.

Unfortunately auto magic owns the patent on all clay sold in the USA until the end of this year. If you buy clay from meguiars, mothers, turtle wax ect. They are all getting it from automagic until the end of the year when other manufactures can get into the market. It's an integral part of the detailing process or I know for a fact Adam would not sell it.

Microfiber towels are also manufactured in Korea, the Chinese MF is worthless and there is no US bred microfiber manufacturer.

there is a patent on clay so there is only one source at the moment which means there arent any US options. I believe the patent expires this year and I am sure Adams will have a US made claybar

I like US made stuff, but Japan usually makes some pretty decent stuff (excluding Hondas, of course

Im sure something will be changed / resolved as they are proud about all their products being 100% USA Made.

It could very likely be that the bar was made in the USA but the plastic that which it is wrapped in changed and was made in a different country?

In the end they'll be sure to make it right by either changing the supplier or .. well something.

With it being a holiday weekend I say give it until Tuesday / Wednesday. Also it would be great to contact and inform them of this!

Im sure if the OP asked to have it replaced they would gladly do so, or refund 110% of the money for it. They have amazing customer service.
