I drove in a supercharged GT mustang....not even through second gear could he keep that thing straight. Don't like the feel of a mustang, and the power is disappointing.

I don't know why you stopped reading it since I have done it twice so far and my two other buddies have also. So far we are like 4 for 4 in races against the GT500. It truly is the slowest 500hp car ever made. Don't believe it, I don't care. I was driving and the enjoyment I got was enough for me. To know that my SS is handling these cars is all I need. After reading all the posts about oh we all know a GT500 would kill a new SS, and then actually seeing that it won't. That's all I need.

How many times must I say I have done it. Numbers on paper mean nothing in a race.

Granted I'm not stock anymore, but my friend is and I saw the whole thing in front of my face.

You may well have done it a few times. I'm not calling you a liar. But you said "in most cases" and I disagree with that statement.
The GT500 has more than 100 more hp, weighs less, and has taller gears (3:55s) than the Camaro SS. So there is no way that the Camaro SS wins "in most cases". |

Unfortunately numbers on paper mean a lot more than a statement with no proof behind it.
Sorry, that's just the way it is. |

Was it a GT that the guy put a supercharger on? If so, thats the 4.6 3V motor, not the 5.4 liter motor in the GT500.

Like I said before........I could care less if you believed me or not chain1. I have nothing to prove. Okay 1bad65, maybe in most cases was bad terminology, but it has been done alot more around where I live than I would think a 500hp car should. The 100+hp, not so sure about the weigh less thing, taller gears must not be helping it out at all then cause it has been very close each time. With 3 or 4 cheap bolt ons the Camaro is running away from a GT500 with a factory supercharger. Just ridiculous to me.

Why are you guys ****ing benchracing in this thread. You high-jacked his thread. No one wants to hear you two bitch and moan back and forth. The op wants reasons why the Camaro is better then the Mustang not the other way around and not talking about benchracing. If you can't give any helpful information for his cause just get the hell out of this thread before it falls all the way off the cliff and gets closed down.
Geez you guys will turn anything into a this is better because situation. Man you guys and your E-penises. get over it./rant PS the GT500 weighs more then the SS. GT500 (3920) SS(3841)

it would require thought which is beyond some people. The GT will be a few hundred pounds lighter than the Camaro and will have maybe 26hp less? What's so hard to understand about that? Less weight, bascially same HP, you see where I'm going with this. I think that makes for a pretty good race.

I think your version of 2 car lengths and what 2 car lengths really equal out to are totally different. I don't even have to point out that GT500's are hitting mid 12's and Camaro's mid 13's, you already said it. You and I both know that a 1 second plus difference in 1/4 mile E/T doesn't mean the slower of those two is "keeping up" with the faster one, that's commonly referred to as "being left behind". Yeah, not hardly any difference between the Camaro and the GT500, civilized society as a whole must be completely clueless. You are absolutely correct about the drivers being an intregal factor as well as winning some and losing some. To throw a blanket statement out there like the one regarding Camaros and GT500s not being that far apart though.....

Yet more Ford fanboys that just can't get the point that the SS is very close to the GT500. I have beaten GT's so bad I couldnt even see them in my rearview anymore. I have no launch control on my SS friend. I have an auto with a great tune and some bolt-ons with a bigger cam on the way. When I was stock I got beat by a few GT500s but also beat a few GT500s. Now with bolt-ons and a tune, it's a no contest. There is always someone faster. The GT and GT500 are not gods of the road.
