Zeus, alot of people do prefer the Live Rear Axle design. It's really not this inferior, outdated technology like some people make it out to be.

And yes, I was wrong on the GT500 and Camaro SS weights. The GT500 is indeed heavier.

It definitely doesn't sound like he's here because he's "interested in where the Camaro is going."

Seems like you need to put me on ignore and i have never posted a "vehement" dislike for the Camaro.

The GT500 weighs 3920 lbs with the upgraded Sound System (including 4 amps), or 3850 lbs the standard sound system. Regardless, 20-60 lb difference either way is really splitting hairs. There is likely a bigger delta between the weight of 2 randomly chosen drivers........

per chevy the curb weight for the SS is 3849; it is about 70lbs lighter than the current GT500

I thought we were comparing the 2010 Camaro SS to the 2010 GT500.
Atleast get your facts right before posting some childish picture:

3913 – SS w/ automatic
3860 – SS w/ manual
3924 - GT500 w/ manual

The 11 pound difference between the auto SS and the gt500 is certainly not enough to make up for 140+ hp as originally insinuated.

It's not rocket science here. The guy is writing a paper comparing MANY different things. He is not just comparing speed. If he was, about 99% of us would freely admit the Camaro is faster.
exactly, im just comparing the current camaro and mustang. im not talking about the history or both of them because that would be way longer than my paper has to be. i am well aware of the mustangs past and how it opened doors for others to come through. but im just talking about whats going on now between the two.

When I was still stock I could keep up with a GT500 pretty well for the power difference. I've read how this car blows everything out of the water but it just isn't true. A buddy of mine beat a '08 GT500 by 1/2 a car length until they got to about 100mph's and then the Stang crept back right as they got through the 1/4 mile mark at the track. I have added a CAI, LT Headers, and got a good tune and I can pull them by 2 car lengths now. The Mustang is truly an inferior car stock for stock. Sure pro driver's can get into the 11's with the GT500 but the truth is that you and me (the average guys) just can't do that. It has been a proven mid 12 second to high 12 second car even with 500hp. The Camaro has been a proven low to mid 13 sec car depending on conditions as well. I have seen this first hand racing them, the difference is not very much at all. I do not hate Mustangs by any means, I really like the GT500s alot and respect them. But to keep bashing the Camaro is crazy, it is 100% the best car of the group for now at least. A 5.0 400hp GT will still not have much of a chance if it even makes it out. I am a true racer, I have raced all kinds of drivers in all kinds of cars, you win some and you lose some, but the difference between a GT500 and a Camaro SS are not that far off at all. It's time to admit this.
exaclty it is the best of the group currently but i dont feel the gt500 should be compared to the ss only the z28 when it does come out in the future

The Camaro was produced and done better than the current Mustang and that is all that matters. The only people that care about a pointless history lesson is of course the people who have their feelings hurt over which car is better than the other. I have had no problem whatsoever with my warranty work... I've brought in it twice for A/C related problems and an oil change.

As for GM competition during that span, GM was selling the GTO in the US from 2004-2006.
You honestly believe the reason why people bought the Mustangs during this time period was because it was redesigned? Just wow (the answer lies within your own statement!)

Because most people don't care which is faster, they just want the better looking one, which obviously was the Mustang during this period.

This is just a flat out lie.

Again, the GT500 without the upgraded sound-system is 3,850.......I am amazed how much the sound system weighs, but it does include subs, sub box, and 4 amps.
