/sigh. How many times does this need to be repeated in a weeks time.

both on the 1st page.

Discounts and incentives always have an "expiration date" of the last day of the month. Go to the supplier or the employee discounts sites and you will see they too "expire". The reason behind this is because any price changes made to discounts and incentives are made at the beginning of the month and having an expiration date allows them to make these changes.

well i actually had a run in with this student discount... heres the lil story...

i learnt abt the student discount from a guy on the canadian forums... so i went to my dealer... and i had the gm card since i was a university student...
however, dont get this confused with the GM GRAD program, they are not the same and cannot be combined...

anyways... the student program dropped off my account after 7 years... on... sept 2009... i ordered my car in july... so i called the redemption center and the cs rep said nothing she can do... i know how the business works so i go "let me talk to your manager please"... she said "she cant do anything..." i insisted... spoke to the manager... she said "i cant do anything..." i explained the situation... i told her i ordered my car in july... gave her order number... not my fault GM takes 3 months to build my car... she said she will call me back in 2 days... within 30 mins she calls me back and tells me that i have been granted it onto my account again until dec 2009....

welll then... now i have 1500 from my GM VISA + 1000 from my student bonus = 2500 off car...

the student bonus is different from the grad bonus... grad bonus is basically as someone mentioned have to have graduated from college/uni within a certain amount of yrs...
student bonus is those annoying flyers they leave in your monthly visa statement... you had to have signed on as a student when getting the visa card....

hope that helps...

Why does the dealer have the right to turn down the Grad discount if it is a GM program?????

It is supplier discount. Must be currently in school or graduated in last year iirc. And unfortunately the dealer does lose alot when doing those deals. GM re-imburses them 2% of invoice but that really isn't alot.

2% of $30,000 is $600 and that means it's only costing the dealer about $400. I hope I can talk the dealer into giving me the discount. I just graduated the end of September!

Costing dealer $400? Average gross on a Camaro is 1500 so dealer loses about 900 dollars

How are they losing money? if they make $1500 and I get $1000 off, but GM gives them $600 back for the grad discount they still make $1,100

Because 90% of the time Supplier cost is under the invoice pricing (what the dealer pays) That's why GM gives them the 2% of invoice back. The Dealers commision would be the $600 dollars.

I just talked to my dealer and he just outright denied that there was any kind of student discount on the Camaro! I told him to find out about it because I know people who have gotten this discount. What should I tell him?

Try to tell him you will walk away or that you will buy, but will not buy anything else (like the warranty and stuff)

At this point in time, dealers much prefer someone to walk away over selling the car for supplier.

As for proving that the Camaro is supported go to the Supplier site and print the vehicle eligibility page. There is only 2 vehicles that do not qualify, Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the Saturn VUE Two-Mode Hybrid.
