Last I checked GM's name was on my car not Brembo. Do you really think Brembo made the decision to put wheel weights on the calipers or was it GM that ok'ed it. I for one dont care there on my car but if you look at the big picture it is pretty bush league to add stick on weights to the calipers. Its a bad band aid fix to an obvious problem. I think they could have come up with a better fix. If you think about it its not exactly screaming quality...

The more people that take their cars in and complain, the faster the problem will be taken care of properly.

Let's put some pressure on Brembo.......................& GM!

You know.............the squeeky caliper gets the weights......gone

I say take the weights off, and if it makes nosie then complain about it. Its not like the dealers know that some cars came with weights on the calipers, and even if they did theres now way to prove yours did, or that you took them off.

That could backfire. I've taken plenty of cars in for squeaky brakes over the years. Most of the time they do NOTHING and call it NORMAL, but when they have taken action it has usually resulted in a rotor being turned, never with a new redesigned caliper. I personally don't want my rotors turned at this point.

i think this is GM's fault... its not like the caliper on the camaro is some special 4 piston camaro caliper. its just a brembo 4 piston, monoblock caliper. theres a HUGE list of cars that carry the same/similar calipers (evo, sti, rr s/c, srt8, etc etc) and hmmm, do they have wheel weights?? brembo simply provides the caliper, and its known that a high performance compound pad and large rotors often squeek, espeically fixed calipers (like these). the Z06s have one piece, fixed 6 piston calipers. they arent brembos, they are PBR... point is they squeek when cold, very moderately. thats normal. and no wheel weights...

I can't believe that these haven't been re-designed yet. We were told by GM after the first cars were delivered and this was noticed that it was being redesigned. Why is it taking so long? Are they waiting for the next MY before they use the new ones?

Will your car be worth more in 50 years if it still has the original wheel weights on the caliper?

The redesign is shown below and apparently went into effect a couple of weeks ago.

I ordered mine mid October, received it end of November and I just went outside and looked. It has the weights on it also. 2 large stacks on the front calipers. Never checked the back.

Here's the last 5 digits of my vin # 67096

Why are there wheel weights on my calipers??

Hello,

I know this has been asked before somewhere, but why are there wheel weights on my calipers?? What's the idea behind this ?

What happeneds if they fall off ?? What would I do to remedy the issue?

How would I know how many to put back if I needed to put back fallen off ones back?
