Learning to drive is a rite of passage that most teens look forward to from the time they’re old enough to experience their first taste of freedom. What is an exciting and liberating time for them, however, is often a nerve racking and scary time for parents, as we all know that teens can sometimes not quite have the judgement skills necessary to go along with the new responsibilities they’re inheriting. Parents want their teens to experience the freedom of driving, but in a safe way, and this is where a car video camera really comes in handy.

Where did this come from?

The car should not hunt for idle it should have a little higher idle at cold start up then go down to 950 the correct idle hot or cold now with a larger cam, cam surge is caused by unloading a cam when driving then pressing in the clutch and can cause some uneven driving feel but your basically coasting and letting the engine free itself form the load of the trans and that's the only unnatural feel a engine should have not some weird feel in high gears...……

There is no doubt by your description something is not right and your car should not return to stock idle but stay at 950 and not have any cruising problems other than having to rev it up higher to avoid low speed cam surge/bucking in parking lots and under 10 mph stuff...…… I am not on my first engine or cam and if you I would check to make sure the air tubes tight on the TB and the TB is tight and the MAF is sealed and tight, and get it tuned by someone who knows what they are doing. Good Luck, some vendors on here could help you out, but the best would be a dyno tune with the CAM card and my Tuner Tommy Wong in Vancouver is $550. Ignore the douche in the Tesla must be a teen....
And frankly I have to request my tuner drive my car and he is too busy and says no just drive it and bring it back now...he has driven it before, but then again he is not young and dumb and full of...…… And has his own Corvettes much nicer than my poor Camaro and other with say a thousand HP who wish he would drive theirs...…… And Frankly I would suggest you should drive your car to Tommy Wong at Wongs performance engineering but he has months long waiting lists usually, I myself have him do break ins of my Cams and engines with Driven racing br30, dyno tune and set up and install what ever, he's pretty dang good, has a library of tunes and Mustang dyno, GM soft and hardware, Hp tuning, and only things I found over time is he's so busy....on a engine install he did not tighten a ground to my fuel injection on one side enough I found much later down the road, and once I had to have him tune out the headers code from the delayed response due to the distance to the first o2 sensor on headers also on that new engine about 20 miles down the road...

Time is not irrelevant especially for you I know so getting someone to tune it right now is essential, and going to the busiest guy in the NW might not be a option as he is a one man shop. He is worth it though. You would want to take it to someone like him though who has a good long history of GM modification and tuning and good understanding of electrical, he has two degrees in previous work as a engineer.

Had mine tuned Friday at Carb Connection in Kirkland WA. Not Wongs but they did a great job. Maybe you wanna take a ride there?

I thought that sounded familiar, I had looked up Carb Conn when I was still up at Lewis but never made it up there. How are they, pnwdan?

I am happy with them. Had a lot of fun. Learned a lot. Good conversation and advice while he was tuning and tweaking. Even experienced them messing with a Hellcat that had a whipple swap when I got there.

Idle seems ok even though it’s lower than what I was told. Definitely some shaking as it drops from 900 to 700. Maybe this is ok?

Looks like the idle is set to about 625, should be higher with a cam of that size. Definitely not 900 rpm like they told you. It needs work to smooth it out.
