But let's not discount something that a lot of Camaro guys don't like to admit. The Coyote, if it was one, is a freaking beast even in stock form. Hopefully it was a Coyote and you didn't get walked by a stock 4.6. That would hurt.
If it was a "2012ish" as the OP said then it should have a Coyote in it. 2011+ were Coyote engines. A stock 4.6 shouldn't even beat a V6 Camaro as the Camaro has slight hp edge even if the Mustang has a slight weight edge. I will give you that the Coyote is a good engine, especially in stock form.

Ill probably have to slap some mufflers back on. And I love the idea of getting the 3.91 gears but I'm worried about that as well, will I be able to catch traction with my 315 all seasons in the rear? I have to run all season because i daily drive and it rains a lot. Also, I dont know much about how the 3.91s would affect the l99 car across the spectrum. I'm definately more interested in the short sprints than quater mile, but I dont want to give up too much if any at all in the higher ranges, and I also dont want to loose significant gas mileage. Would the 3.91s make a big difference in 20 rolls or 40 rolls?
Yeah longtubes with a tune will really wake it up but depending on the exhaust setup some will be much louder than others. I don't have longtubes yet but my exhaust consists of no secondary cats, x-pipe, and a muffler delete and it is reasonably loud. I work nights and leave around 10pm and haven't had a complaint yet thankfully but I live around adults with no young kids and no elderly. Those cold starts though are awesome lol And I think depending on the tire you could get it to hook with all seasons especially if you warmed them up and it wasn't raining or anything. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the L99 came with 3.27 gears stock? So 3.91 gears would make a difference for those short sprints you are looking for. Even moreso if you went with a stall and did things from a dig. You would lose some on the top end but that's not what you are worried about anyways. Gas mileage would be negligible I think depending on your driving but I'm sure someone with gears could chime in on that. And I'm thinking the guy wasn't telling the truth about his car so don't feel too bad. Coyote motor or not I'm not a Ford fan and especially not a mustang fan so I've been in your boat before and know how it feels. A few small changes and you can be turning the tables soon.

With both cars being a manual and stock, a 2010 LS3 Camaro against those year 5.0 Coyote Mustang GTs with 3.73s will be dead even deep into 4th gear. The L99 auto will probably need more than a tune and airbox.

Well, the gods have answered. This morning, a nice brisk morning here in the new Orleans area, I pull up next to a white 2011ish mustang gt on my way to work. Not the same guy as before but very similar car. We are the only ones in sight, what are the chances of this? I wanted to be ready. I didnt expect the mustang to take off honestly but I took tc off and went to sport mode for just incase. I also stupidly hit the left paddle shifter to stay in low gears for incase I need to take off in a hurry. That came back to bite me in the ass because at around 30mph this mustang guy just floors it, and at this point im in like 3rd thinking that he wasn't going to do anything, so I quickly downshifted to second and at redline put it back into auto mode as I shifted to up to 3rd.he had a slight jump, but not much. I caught up and we were door handle to door handle, dead even, for about 5 seconds. Then I pulled slightly ahead, maybe a car legnth, and we were approaching the limit of being responsible so that was that. I'm happy again. I dont know what type of package either of the mustangs had, like which final gear ratio they were running (which would definately make a difference in short sprints) and I dont even know for sure the white one was a 5.0, I'm assuming it was but I didnt think to look for the 5.0 emblem so I cant say for sure. What I do know is the white one today was very quiet compared to the black one from a couple nights ago. So either my car is slightly faster than a 4.6 and gets beat by 5.0s, or my car is slightly faster than stock 5.0s and the black, loud 5.0 from the other night was modded or had some special performance package that I'm not familiar with. I dont know much about mustangs at all but the black one had a big spoiler (color matched) on it and sounded non-stock. So I think the guy lied to me, or it was a performance version.

As you may or may not know, we do not condone street racing here.
There will always be someone faster than you.....that's why we have race tracks.
That being said, if you take the time to do some reading here, you will find lots of options to optimize your l99.

There will always be something faster as its about money, you do some gears and get a tune and just be happy.....because the next gleam in your eye is little money and time down the road take it from a old hot rodder… You compare yourself to supposedly stock Mustang...they never seam to tangle with me unless I am stuck in traffic where any bungholio in their minivan who passes me gains set of balls like a hippity hop until I line up close to them with some clear road...……….. Just so you know, yes a fast Car attracts wankers and you can't put them all in their place..... Just be happy with what you have a great daily driver...… and mods are addicting to any car over any decade...…….

That is my friend's Mustang on the right and our former co-worker had not arrived that day with the Scat pack, take it from me that those Mustangs are not slow and are also lighter, now depending on any mods he could of done results will vary accordingly and you cannot believe what the person you just lined up against says as i had friends who swore by the sneeky Pete kits to make money and being easily hidden on glove compartments. There are things that you can catch with the naked eye and things like gears, stroker kits etc that are used to slight people who are unsuspecting after all not everybody likes going around saying what they have and some like doing exactly what they did to you here; made you go home hurt and doubting yourself.

Seems you were on the receiving end that time.
