This has to be one of the most ridiculous threads in a while. What Does GM Make on each Camaro sold?? “I” wonder how much 7-11 makes on the cup of coffee I just bought? WHO CARES ! Furthermore why is that when Camaro Scotty (well respected) tells you that you that there is very little money to be made no one believes him ! ? With record levels of unemployment wouldn’t the unemployed be lining up at the door for sales positions f you could make 100k per year?

Time to find something else to read.

Yeah, that might have been true 3 years ago but that was prior to it becoming "Government Motors" but it is nowhere near that now. I could give ya all kinds of info on that but I'm not going there.

Yea, I know, I'm not normal!!!
When I picked up mine, the finance guy said he wished he had more like me in there as I was so happy and just wanted to talk about the Camaro. The GM said he wanted me to sell them (doubt that they needed any help in selling them) as I was so knowledgeable. That's when I told him I studied up on it.... online on Camaro5!

As a side note and off-topic, do you know that the salesman don't make any money off these new camaros. My salesman told me the off of my 38k plus 2SS he only made 175 dollars. Talk about being screwed, you sale a 40 grand car and only get 175 dollars for it. No wonder why they want to mark them up, so they can make so damn money.

Damn owners of this dealerships are just straight cheap. ok sorry just thought I would share that info.

I posted this in another thread about a month ago. So if you think they are making money like crazy you sir don't know the first thing about how business works. I work in the oil industry and everyone loves to tell me about MY business when they don't have a clue about the cost of doing business, but yet everyone tells me we most be pouring in the cash. Ohhh how I wish that was true.

I have to agree with csadusky, what GM "makes" or will make on a Camaro is kind of an odd question. I guess I say that because I don't know "why" it is being asked... Is it because someone thinks they make (or will make) too much? Or too little?

Really, in the manufacturing business - really ALL business - companies are there to make a profit. So all I hope is that they are going to make the money they forecasted when they decided to make this car.

And in the dealerships, I just honestly wish all of them would honor the MSRP at least, like Scotty and Eric (and others that post here whom I don't know your names), versus going after the "fast buck" and kicking in the market adjustment. I am sure that dealers make more in the long run in their service department. Why would anyone want to just make 300, or 750 or whatever it is per car and that is it? Because they want you to be happy, love your car, and come back to their dealership for service/repair, and eventually your next car. The dealers that want the one time market adjustment are not likely to get that long term customer that will service their car and buy again.

I want the economy to be better, I am in the oilfield, and I want to pay more for gas!!! Sorry but I do ... If there is demand and drilling rigs can make money and get contracts, it seems like the whole economy rebounds. I want everyone to make money, GM, the dealerships, me... The circle of life...

I took the OP's question as pure curiosity as opposed to concerns that they (GM) are making too much. In watching the Ultimate Factories show, the same question occurred to me. Seems like a massive investment and I wonder how much each additional unit contributes to the payback.

Exactly....nothing more, nothing less. No motives, just curiosity only. I really hope the car manufacturers make as much as the market will bear.

Based on the responses, no one here really knows. GM has to know, but I'm sure that info will never leave the corporate office.
Just a simple question, a car msrp's for 30k, on average, what does it actually cost GM (or any car manufacturer) to make this vehicle?

Only one's that could answer that will be GM itself. I can tell you what the dealerships make but don't know actual cost to build unit.

WTF? Invoice pricing = what you pay for an item.. So how would a dealership make 2K if they sold it for what they bought it at. So your saying if I buy a stick of gum for $0.25 and sell it for $0.25 I'm making money? And people wonder why our school systems are in so much trouble....

LT Camaro's dealer makes about 925.
SS Camaro's figure 1200-1800
