Anything close to what a stock ss would put out would be perfect

My guess will be a little under 400 horsepower, and probably about 375 ft*lbs.

But thats nowhere near official.

When I was at Lingenfelter, the plan was to create slightly more HP & torque than the stock SS. Somewhere in the 425 HP range.

Price is $8,995 for the "base" SS setups... Yes, I know the SS uses a completely different supercharger, etc... yes, i would guess the V6 would be cheaper... but probably not a whole lot...

Is this something that the stock transmission can handle?

I'm guessing in the 6000-7000 range.

Officially - no.

Unofficially - you'll probably be fine if you have a stick, and need a bit of an upgrade for the auto.

P.S. - just so you don't think I'm pulling that tranny info out of my rear, the manual tranny is factory rated for 345 ft*lbs. If the same ratio of torque/horsepower is maintained with the stock engine, the car will put out 385 ft*lbs at that horsepower. Thats about 330 at the wheels.

I can't remember off the top of my head if that rating is "at the wheels" or "at the flywheel," but either way you're not pushing it too much. The tranny in my IROC was only rated for like 225 ft*lbs, and I was putting out about 300 at the wheels (350ish at the flywheel) for quite a while before it busted on me.

If the HP and torque are close to the SS, then they can't price it more than $7k and still expect to sell many. After all, if we'd wanted to pay $7k more for 425hp, we would've bought an SS in the first place.

Some times there are ofter factors in getting a V8 vs a V6 beside the price of the car...

Which is why I said "many" instead of "any." There's still the insurance advantage, the "sleeper" advantage, the technojoy advantage, maybe even the MPG advantage (we'll see), but I'd say the #1 reason people get the V6 is because they didn't think the extra hundred-ish horsepower was worth another ~$7k or they just didn't have that extra ~$7k in the first place.

If the kit gets you better-than-SS power for less than SS price, they'll sell a ton. If it gets you better power for the same price, or the same power for a lower price, they'll still sell a good amount. If it's the same power for the same price, though, I don't think they'll sell more than a handful. They'd be limited mostly to people who want to look like they've got less power than they really do, and those people have a much lower-maintenance option of getting an SS and swapping a V6 front end onto it like Hylton did.

I didn't swap a V6 front fascia onto my car. I just got rid of the mail slot on my SS fascia.
