I have the same problem as Z288Racer. Mine has the AC option. I changed the radiator fluid to a 70/30 mix with water wetter and it helped slightly. I also could get a few more laps by running the heater but that's not going to cut it during the hotter months.

Z288Racer does yours have the AC option?

OP what oil filter are you using? I'm curious to see if this is Oil filter related -I know the PF64 has more holes on it than the UPF48R. I know on another thread there is a comparison between these two filters and just appearance tells me that the PF64 is less restrictive. Or could be nothing.

dardbrown - this is from prior page of this thread. I had P64 first time I went to track - no overheating issues - 2nd time I went to dealer week before to change all fluids - they installed a 48R - insisted it was what was used on Z06, was superior filter and I should use it, not P64. Went to track - had over heating issues in mid day session - same track, similar daytime temps - all else stock (so full coolent, no water or water wetter).

Next time I will follow the GM track sheet and use a P64, not the dealers recommendation - in that post from prior page, link #31 easy to see photos of more holes that are larger on the bottom of P64, so better flow - even if not "better" filtering - so the mechanic made the better recommendation for the "street" but GM track sheet for Z/28 makes better recommendation for "track".

I just ordered some P64's on Amazon Prime for $6.46 each (with rebate they are $4 +/-) - free shipping. GM parts direct had them for $4 +/- - but $72 in shipping!

Note part number for P64 was 12640445 - then 12696048 - so at dealer 2nd part number is what they will look up - but online a lot of times you will see the first part number on the filter or the box. Also note the 48R is the filter listed for our cars by GM.

I will go back to P64 and see if that improves temp situation next track day. Good luck

I just changed the filter to PF64. I had the Mobile1 M1-113A. Stayed with the same oil Mobile1 15W50. I could swear the engine seemed to run smoother and rev faster with the new oil filter. Maybe my imagination but I will take it back to the track in a few months after I recover from a knee replacement. Thanks for the tips and advice. If this doesn't fix the problem then I will eliminate the AC condenser which is obviously blocking some Air flow as well as program the fans to turn on high speed sooner.

Does anyone have the part number for the thermostat? Everywhere I look it shows a 180* thermostat.

12661950 is the oem 7.0 liter 160 degree stat
