I believe they were talking about having to move the Zoomers exhaust to get to the drain plug. If you don't have the Zoomers exhaust, it'd be much easier like you said.

I drained mine and put in RP at about 1300 miles. Stock oil looked and smelled terrible with alot of shavings on the plug.

I feel that for like $15 and a little time it was well worth it.

Yeah Max Gear 75w90 by Royal Purple works for the manual trans and differential. For the SS, the trans takes 4.2 quarts, and the diff takes 1 quart. The engine takes 8 quarts of 5w30 RP engine oil and you can get their oils and filters at Pep Boys or Auto Zone.

If you have the Zoomers 3" custom catback exhaust, you can loosen the clamps near the axle and muffler on the driver's side and twist the pipe enough to get a small breaker bar type ratchet in there to loosen the drain plug on the diff. Just break it loose though and then remove the ratchet as there is no room to do more. Use a pair of vise grips or channel locks to grip the drain plug enough to get it loose enough to spin out by hand.

When I did mine the oil that came out of the diff looked like crud and smelled terrible; glad I changed it!

Oh I forgot to say what the results are. The car is noticeably quieter inside; the drivetrain noise is pretty much gone now. The car idles smoother and the trans shifts smoother. Overall there's a difference you can feel and hear. Definitely worth it!

Yes the manual trans and diff both use the same gear oil; 75w90 Max Gear. It'll be fine hehe; this is the same gear oil that the Mazda's use. I had it in my RX8 and it works like a charm.
