UPDATE

Well with little to no help on here other than “find a different tuner” my tuner and I spoke with the head fellas at HP Tuners. Consensus was my base tune was corrupt. Since my guy didn’t have a pass thru and didn’t have a factory stock tune for my car we met at the local GM dealership to have a stock, base tune reflashed. At first they couldn’t do it because my ECU showed it was up to date. So, my tuner flashed it as a Silverado then the GM tech was able to flash it. My tuner then made basic adjustments so it would start and guess what? NO RUNNAWAY IDLE!!!! He then loaded up the tune he previous had in my car and we did some driving/ data logging to get it right. The car is so much more behaved especially when driving in town.

Excellent - pretty weird path to get there, but sounds like there was some really weird stuff going on!

Sounds like a fairly cool dealer. I’m curious what the flat rate is for a reflash at a dealership. Something like one hour?

My guess it’s a little less. They charged me $90. My tuner charged me $100 which I wasn’t happy about but it wasn’t really either of our faults. He could have kept that info of the adaptive idle to himself. I wouldn’t have known except for odd idle issues that I may have chalked it up to the way it’s gonna have to be versus an actual issue.

doesn't take that long to do... 20 minutes to 30 minutes max... so, half of whatever their hourly rate is... If they're charging you for an hour, you're getting ripped off...

In my case my vehicle was in the dealer’s bay for a little over an hour by the time we got everything sorted out. I was quoted upfront $90 flat rate . Their hourly rate is $125/hr
