Just here to show love for the 6... 304hp goes a long way- my LT1 Camaro put down around that much, and she didn't take no crap from no Mustang

I wouldn't even call the LS/LT Camaro "fine" or "ok", this is a damned dignified machine. It makes around the same HP as a Mustang GT while getting better mileage than Honda Accord. Plus it does all this on 87 octane. I don't know how anyone could see all this, combined with 4 wheel indy suspension, and the Camaro's sex appeal and think that this car is anything but superb.

If it were any of Camaro's competitors, I might talk smack about the sixer, but this one deserves respect. If I wasn't such a sucker for the V8 sound I'd probably consider a 2LT myself, given that pricetag...

Dude my 96 Z28 put down similar times. You telling me that I need to demote it to "good looking, slower sports car"?

The V6 in the new Camaro is AWESOME IMHO. Now the Mustang with the V6 is a joke. 4.0 liter with 200hp and 240 tq. The Camaro V6 has 304hp. Runs 0-60 in about 6.0 seconds, which makes it pretty quick. If I was more intelligent I would have bought a loaded V6 with a manual, put an intake, exhaust and a few other things to boost it to 350hp. That would be a KILLER V6.

Smile No limit to options

No matter what Engine /Transmission you get there will always be someone saying " You could have gotten _____ for just a few bucks more. Buy something you can pay for and forget about the rest. Having the title is worth more than anything else. You can upgrade when you pay it off. If you already have the title, just laugh and say " Yea but....mines paid for".

Take the advise of the older guys like me. Be smart, there's plenty of time left to be stupid. GRIN

I have had the v6 for about 2 months and love it. I never considered the v8 because I plan on driving my car in slush, snow and rain all year long.

Best wishes to all v8 and v6 owners, we have purchased a legend regardless of the configuration.

they are all camaros that is the important thing. each of us has an idea of what we want out of the car and some of us the amount we can afford is the dominate idea. dominate the streets with either the v6 or v8. i love my ss but i drove 2 v6versions too and found them impressive. i have decided since the 2008 elections i will remove the majority of money from banks and investments and im not worried what the ecology freeks say about the enviorment eitheri got what i will enjoy. remember though if obama has his way there will be no v6 or v8 since he is such a moron when it comes to vehicles .

There is no replacement for displacement period. There's nothing wrong with buying the V6 & I'm sure you'll love the LT but you will still have people trying to race you even if you don't care about being faster than the other guy or not. The V6's still look as sexy as the V8's but the stock V6 cars still have to put their tail between their legs anytime a performance car pulls next to them at a red light. The V6 may produce 300hp but a 14.2 1/4 mile time while being decent just isn't going to put you in the same performance category as the 300hp LS1 FBodies or the 300hp Mustang GT's. I can see both sides of the V6 vs. V8 story, but a V8 will always be a lot more fun to drive than the V6, just IMO.

Nice political rant there at the end. The CAFE mileage figures are out, but how the manufacturers meet them is up to them. If they can get 400hp out of a diesel 3 cylinder, or get a 200hp car light enough to run awesome numbers, I'd drive it. Improving mileage is not a bad thing.
Didn't know the financial situation was so dire since the elections - let us know how your mattress investments turn out. Even after a lousy week of stocks and earnings news, I'm looking at around 18% return on my primary account for the year.

Peace out.
yes i know the numbers arent completely accurate, but they are in the ballpark... im not hating on the v6, i just dont think its not THAT fast... my 98 E430 benz with 270 HP did 0-60 in 7 seconds when i clocked it, the average user of hte v6 ive seen is getting aroud 6.5s... so getting .5 seconds faster then my old luxury car doesnt seem fast to me

in concept yes, at teh time the z28 was a monster because they didnt built cars as fast as today... in yesterdays standards it was a fast car... in todays standards i just dont think so

But really - how often is this going to happen? It's happened to me a grand total of ONCE in the month I've owned the car. (I won. Ford truck. What was he thinkin'? ) And besides, just because you don't care to race doesn't mean you've tucked tail. Maybe you don't want to risk a ticket, or you think it's childish. There could be plenty of reasons you ignore that other revvin' driver.

to all Camaro drivers, regardless!
