I didn't mean to come across as a arrogant ass, which is what it appears. I understand not everyone does this kind of work for a living. It just erks my last nerve to see butchering and hacking up a car to do a job. I take a lot of pride in what I do, and when I'm finished repairing a car I want it to look as though I was never there. Believe it or not, most jobs look harder than they really are...once you get into it you find it's not so bad. I encounter this all the time, especially with new stuff I've never done before. As for evap vent valves on a Camaro....I can't recall the last one I've done and I work at a dealership! They do fail...everything does, but the failure rate isn't as high as being represented in this thread. Chances are if you have to replace your valve, do it right, you will most likely never have to do it again.

I have to admit I take more pride in the well done modification sometimes than doing things the "right" way. One of the reasons that I now own a kit car is so that I can modify and tweak how I want to without damaging the value of the car.
