I'm just scared the 2LT will be slower than other cars at its price point. I don't want ricers to embarrass me! I CERTAINLY Don't wanna be slower than V-6 family sedans!! (ie. Maxima).

I don't suppose I can get Bluetooth or anything like that on a 1SS can i? Are the seats in the 1SS garbage? (I wanted leather but at this rate I cannot afford it). I like FIRM seats, and leather is always a nice FIRM seat. My Camry's are mush... garbage.

The dealer should be able to install The Convenience and Connectivity package even if GM won't right?

You seem to be very worried about performance. So GET THE SS and dominate. If you CAN'T afford it, then you probably need to wait until you can.

What is the the price difference in the V6 and V8 Camaro?
5K? maybe 7K.
100- 150 more a month (tops)

If 100 bucks is a "deal breaker" it sounds like you probably aren't in the position to buy either.

Just wait, you will be much happier with the SS over the other options. If you gotta have now, can't wait. Then it is completely up to you. But test drives do wonders.

But I wouldn't be too concerned about ricers etc. Their are going to be plenty of SRt4's out there that will totally kill you. Big deal. They built their car for that. Their are going to be Twin Turbo set ups on V6s that will kill you. Again not a big deal.

I didn't buy my car because I was scared of getting beat by a "ricer"

Lord knows their are plenty of "ricers" that can beat my car.

Please tell me how you know this as a fact? The camaro beats the mustang in power, the mustang beats the camaro in handling, so how does a balanced track give the camaro the advantage?

Isn't there some track test numbers to end this little debate. I bet it is so close, it is a driver's race each and every time. But that is just my guess.

And to the OP, you should buy a g8 gxp right now. You could probably get 6k off, plus 0% financing for 72 months, so you pay no interest, and you get the same performance as the camaro. Or, if you don't want that, then you should just get the mustang if you're comparing v6 cam to v8 stang...

With respect let's just end it. If this becomes a GT v. SS thread, they will close the thread. This thread has been VERY helpful to me in taking in purchase data that will aid in my decision.

So the seats on the SS1, are they the same as on the SS2? Just not leather? I can deal with that I think. They still look awesome and have the huge head-rests and are FIRM racing seats?

The reason I'm rushing guys, is I want the 2009 tax credit. Sales tax on a car is 8.25% in NY. I want to avoid that!

Now can anyone comment on the quality of the seats on the SS1? Are they at least comfortable?

I'm assuming my dealer can install some kind of convenience and connectivity package for me even if GM can not.
I have a silver ice metallic 1SS, and let me tell you now, the seats, to me, are great. Im totally fine with it. Im gonna get two tone leather installed later but now, the cloth seats are great. They are damn nice and tight, and just fits my body like a glove. They are really not that bad, as long as you wont abuse them like eating in your car spilling shit like crumbs and drinks. I dont eat in my car AT ALL, or drink; so im fine.

Leather would look nice, but considering the actual quality of these cloth seats,...and the design(blk for me), it looks great, you'll be very satisfied.

Yeah, and that tax credit it awsome; we get that back in 2010 when we file. The sales tax on my car was 3,000 dollars, a bit much, but I'm not worrying about that cause I get that back. It's basically any car purchased between Feb 17-Jan 1, 2010, you get the sales tax back. So this is a great deal.

You get the sales tax back PLUS the additional money you were already gonna recieve.

I don't read it on http://www.irs.gov/irs/article/0,,id=214016,00.html the same way you do.

Yes, it added on to the standard deductible amount (for non-itemized folks) and is simply another line item for itemized folks.

But that doesn't mean you get "It all back" --- at least that isn't how I understand it.

If you give 1000 bucks to Charity- that doesn't mean you get 1000 back from the government, but it is a write off. So if that 1000 bucks moves you down the scale just a bit, then instead of paying 150 bucks on that money-- you may only pay 130 bucks... so in reality you would only "Get back" 20 bucks more.

But I could be way off on how I read it.....

Any tax guys on here that better understand this?

hrblock has their quick 2009 estimator up.

I put some fake numbers in just to see the difference.

80K income
8K federal taxes

refund 3535

w/ 1000 dollar new car tax.
refund is 3685

So you paid 1,000 in taxes
(got)3685-(would have got)3535

GET BACK $150 extra

So you don't get back all your taxes you paid on a new car.

only about 15% in this case.

Hope this helps

If it is a balanced track, it would have many straight shots where the Camaro could pull ahead a good distance to when both cars go into turns the Mustang would catch up, but then fall back again when another straight shot is met.

It's better suited for the turns, but that doesn't automatically mean it is going to win the race.

Get the Camaro!

Second choice would be a Challenger.

I thought it was illegal for anyone over 21 to own a Mustang? I sold mine when I was 18.

Terrible logic, if the track started with a curve, then it would be the camaro that would be playing catch up.
The point is you have no concrete proof to these claims, just speculation.
