Emission light on, due to fuel injector cleaners after every refuel, Good or bad?

I went to O'reillys automotive store and they did a free engine warning light scan.I only have 61,287 miles on it They mentioned that it was the emissions that was a problem. My car runs really great at all speeds on freeways, etc.
I explained to them that I always put Lucas Upper cylinder treatment Fuel injector cleaner after every fuel up at Shell using the V-Power gas. Secondly, after every oil change, I used a 12 oz of Prolong 3,000 mile Fuel system cleaner. They mentioned that it could the problem to that Emission light going on, and I should just completely stop those extra fuel additives. How bad is that for the engine? According to advice from local Chevy parts dealer, they said to ask for the Code no. I also forgot to ask for the Code no. read from the scanning device that employee did. They said that code no.on scanner read by a qualified Mechanic can pinpoint the emission problem. Any advice about this?

I’ll stop putting those additives for sure and stick with only fueling using the V-power gas from Shell Gas stations for now on. Any safe advice about this? Let me know, thanks!

Try changing fuel types occasionally. The fuel mfg. have their own additives and they too can cause issues over time.

What was the code ?

To keep fuel systems clean,TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is recommended.

If TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is not available, one bottle of Fuel System Treatment PLUS added tothe fuel tank at every engine oil
change, can help.
Fuel System Treatment PLUS is the only gasoline additive recommended by General Motors.

Well on this one you will really need the code number to see where the problem is. Could be just a bad 02 sensor. Also sounds like you are using WAY too much injector cleaner, you only need to use it about every 3-4k miles or so, that's what I do, and I also use the Lucas cleaner in the small clear bottle with the white label, same as you. I also use Shell 93 fuel all the time with no issues as of yet. Good luck, and get the code number to see where to start.

I took it to my mechanic after Oreilys and he checked it with his tester and said to try buying a new gas cap even though I have tighten the old one it to a click as lock. He was able to take the emission light off. He mentioned even something as a faulty gas cap rings wear out in time. and could possibly a slight vacuum air leak from it. I went and bought a new gas cap, but they seem difficult to put a new one on. Any videos on this? The instructions on o the new gas cap I bought is not online.

If it was the gas cap, you would get a message on your center screen between the tach and speedo that says "tighten gas cap". Mine did. Another thing you could have a small leak in your evap system causing a light to come on. You really need to get the code number and list it here so we can help you dig deeper into the problem. The trouble code number is the key to solving the problem. It could be anything in the emissions system faulting out.

If it's a evap code, I'm shoving all my chips to the center of the table.....you just know it's gonna be the damn vent valve!
