Not sure about the "k relay" but I have seen the inside of a 2010 Cobalt fuse box and it has several relays soldered into it.

I'll try and check my service manual this evening.

are u getting any codes? there is a board fail signal going to the canbus so u'd think a code would be up.

Which board are you talking about? This isn't the ECM or any of the modules. There are distribution traces on a board with relays inside the actual fuse box. I wouldn't think that the canbus would be tied into that.

the board has a relay that triggers a canbus board fail

edit: sorry, the security/panic/high pitch board when fails triggers the horn. was reading the board schematic wrong, if it is just a stuck relay and it's verified the coil isn't being energized , I don't see why it can't be changed? it's just a k relay soldered to a board?

Not sure how common the relays are or if they are a k relay. I said in my first post here that they can be soldered in. They are on the small side though. If it’s like the 2010 Cobalt, you could just redo the wiring at the fuse box to use a separate relay/socket and fuse.

ya u could and the relay is on the underside of the board so nobody will see it, pin #,s are all in the service man.....i.d just come off the same fuse with wire and feed the new relay to avoid confusion that's if I can't swap it.
I'd really like to get a visual of the underside of this board. can't find anything on it.

You and me both. I guess I’m going to have to figure out when I have some time to pull the board.

I do not, I’ve managed to get away without doing anything major to car. One of these days I’m going to have to pickup a set.
