You wanna take up the flag and write the Chicago Tribune, Greenrail? Tell them that the quote was a misprint/taken out of context?

You could reference this site, if you want; because Cheryl Pilcher was, in fact, answering a question about the SORP (Start Of Regular Production). So she was saying that there would be no Z28 right off the bat.
Info here: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...5400#post95400

If you're lucky, they may write a correction piece afterwards. Any decent publication would want to be Up-to-date; and this is as up-to-date as it comes.

This is exactly why I am becoming more and more disenchanted with what is perceived as the "mainstream media." Even worse lately, they have been publishing stories in recent issues that have been covered by other local newspapers and promoting this as breaking coverage three or four days later.

Enough of my rant about the state of the media.

Back on topic now......

Let's keep our fingers crossed as to what GM brings to market here. We as enthusiasts, need to step up and do what we can to ensure the success of the Camaro. I for one am not fixated on a Z28. I will be most contented with an SS/RS car. I wish for those so inclined that the Z28 (when it is released) meets your expectations.

I have been doing what I can to promote the new car. Being a prominent member of our area Camaro club, I am frequently asked about the new car.

I would encourage all to do likewise. I want this car to be a success. I want to be able to enjoy this car as much as I can before I kick the bucket!

Keep the buzz going guys. We screw this one up and we may never have another chance at something like it.

Your next car may be a Chevy Beat Z14 (half of a Z28). Not to say that would be a bad car, just the thought send chills down my spine in fear.

I have to admit my wife is even a little enthused about this car. She hates my '02 only because of the money and time I've spent on it. I think she like the little details, particularly in the interior, that are becoming available. I honestly think the only thing I may truly be a little unhappy with is the car won't come with dual-zone climate control. That's not too big a deal, I've just come to completely LOVE it in her Jetta.

I just got chills too. I'm crossing my fingers the car I'm hoping for won't die before I can get one and be forced to buy a Beat.

My bride has let me know so many times how much she hates the Catalytic converter hump in the passenger side footwell.

(Gosh, I hope the new one doesn't have it, I will end up in the extra bedroom then! )

my post on Z28.com :

until the Fbodfather says otherwise, just consider it on the back burner.

think about the 4th gens. They came out as base model and Z28... then a few years later, the SS came out. its going to be the same way here. GM has to sell enough of the base and SS models to make it worth making a Z28 without it being like a 333427th edition mustang that costs $80,000.00

and scotts response

So.....the Z28 has not been killed -- but a lot of programs are on hold.

thanks for this carry over. I'd say most are on hold because of the volt. . .and of course the economy.

Ok. regarding a post in the V8 section. please back up your opinion. I am with radz in saying that seeing a ZL1 is prob not going to happen when the Z28 can fall into that space easily. But I am right when I say the Z28 does NOT have to be a GT500 fighter. there are other monikers (ZL1, 1LE) that better suite that segment, IMO.

You must have edited you original post (or I missed this) and I'd agree you are completely right. It would not be any different me getting all pissy about people saying a Z28 isn't necessary all the while saying your idea isn't as good as mine. I think as long as it is a more enhanced version of an SS and at least competitive with Mustang, that should be good.
